Banjo Used in Brain Surgery

Brain surgery often is done with the patient awake, so he can provide feedback on what section of the brain is being affected.
A musician who underwent brain surgery to treat a hand tremor played his banjo throughout to test the success of the procedure.

Eddie Adcock is one of the pillars of Bluegrass Music and realised his tremor could threaten his ability to perform professionally.

Surgeons placed electrodes in Mr Adcock's brain and fitted a pace maker in his chest which delivers a small current which shuts down the region of his brain causing the tremors.

Chimp Loves Tigers

Zookeeper China York cares for all kinds of animal babies at The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (TIGERS) in South Carolina. Her assistant is Anjana, a chimpanzee she raised and who copies her caregiving behavior. Recently, the two have been caring for two white tiger cubs that were separated from their mother.
'Mitra and Shiva, were born during Hurricane Hannah,' said Dr Bhagavan, founder of TIGERS. "During that time everything flooded in the sanctuary and they had to be moved into the house as their mother became stressed.

'It was important for their safety that they were separated.'

'Anjana has been with China, side by side, ever since she was born and has joined her in caring and raising baby animals.

'So she helped her and acted as a surrogate mother to these animals and she has done these same with these baby white tigers.

'She gives them a bottle, lies with them and acts as a surrogate mother. She has a close contact and bond and gives them a nurturing.'

Banksy in New York

Street artist Banksy has a show in a Manhattan storefront he named The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill, located at 89 Seventh Avenue South.
Banksy designed a pet shop that includes fish sticks swimming in a fish tank, a chimpanzee watching chimp porn, a fur coat playing a cat, and hot dog hamsters. One of our favorites has to be the Chicken McNuggets sipping barbeque sauce (image via wooster collective). With the use of animatronics Banksy is able to take his artform to a whole new level.

The show is open through October 31st. Link -Thanks, Jayne Howley!

Yes, we all like progress bars! I thought the idea of a progress bar for a road trip was fantastic, until I remembered that a road map will do that. A progress bar for a boring conversation would be extremely useful. -Thanks, Kirby Ferguson!

Aquada

The Aquada is an amphibious vehicle that converts from car to boat in just 12 seconds!
This radical new breed of vehicle has been precision engineered to the most exacting standards. It has undergone an extensive safety testing programme and complies with appropriate marine and road safety regulations.

Entry to the water is via beach, boat ramp, slipway or directly from the water's edge. Once afloat, the transition from road vehicle to High Speed Amphibian (HSA) is effortlessly achieved.

Simply press a button and drive into the water. The wheels automatically rise and as you press the accelerator nearly a tonne of thrust pushes the Aquada onto the plane. The whole process takes less than 12 seconds. The Aquada can plane at over 30mph.
