I'd imagine that another reason it was more common was that houses weren't tied to a bunch of utilities, as they are now. Some may have had no interior plumbing or electricity, for instance.
Be aware - just as the smoke clears and you're about to be able to see the result of such wanton destruction the video stops. Because why would you want to see the result of such a spectacular event?
Difficult to call that an accident. The driver was going too fast to park, was headed for the only part of the roof that was not protected by a bumper and did not appear to brake.
I wonder why the phone itself can't take the video in both format regardless of the way it's being held. There's no "film" that dictate the ultimate format anyhow - so orientation of the phone really shouldn't matter.
