They all seem valid ways to learn, but of course asking on Yahoo answers would be most likely to return nonsense instead of information.

Three hours from my small town to the most affordable airport, time allowed for security, two flights since I don't live near a hub, and a couple hours layover in between. I was routed through Minneapolis on the trip out, which is WAY out of the way.

I think the closest modern analogy would be McCarthyism in the 1950s. People's lives were ruined because others were afraid to defend them from charges of communism, lest they also be accused.

The source, Annals of Improbable Research, is a humor magazine. Sort of the science version of Mad magazine. I'm convinced that no cats were harmed in the writing of this article.
