Kade Chan's still a teenager, but he does some outstanding origami, such as this very detailed Alien figure. In the links, you can read an interview that he did with HK magazine and view more works in his Flickr stream.
Azureus Rising is an action and science fiction short film rendered in high-grade CGI. It reminds me of the early Æon Flux animated shorts. The producers hope to turn it into a feature-length trilogy. It's about "an unlikely and troubled teen forced from his home planet across the galaxy on an epic journey. Eventually to return reborn as the freedom fighter known as Azureus."
Have you read Jeph Jacques' webcomic Questionable Content? It's a hoot! One of the characters, Marigold, has a proper sense of priorities when it comes to gaming.
YouTube user Hunter Davis does an outstanding impersonation of Sir Ian McKellen, the actor who played Gandalf in the LOTR movies. In the above video, he gives an interpretation McKellen repeating the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Davis has a similar video using the theme from Ducktales.
I'm playing catch-up on this one. There's going to be a Spider-Man musical? Yes.
However, lead actor Reeve Carney is still planning to make his debut as Peter Parker this fall, and shared some details about it when he dropped by MTV HQ this afternoon with his band, Carney. In fact, the musician-turned-actor said he's trying on the Spider-Man suit today!
"No joke — right after this, I'm going to get fitted for my Spider-Man suit," he told MTV News. "As soon as I put this microphone down... This is actually not a joke."
I'm not invested in the Spider-Man franchise, so I have no strong feelings about this project. But it does suggest a question that I would like to pose to readers:
What science fiction or superhero franchise would be the most inappropriate setting for a musical?
This catchy music video remixes techno sounds and features classic robots from television and movies, including Buck Rogers, Forbidden Planet, and Short Circuit. Very cute.
In this simply charming video, Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes reflect on their real and fictitious relationship and pitch their idea for a Star Trek sitcom.
Crater Face is a sweet and touching short film by Skylar Page. It's about an astronaut who discovers two lonely moon pimples (don't ask me) and decides to play matchmaker. He risks everything to bring them together.
Antony Le spent a month and $4,000 building this very realistic costume for War Machine, a character from the Iron Man franchise. The faceplate is powered, and the gatling gun actually spins:
Le, a fitness consultant, studied some concept sketches of the suit posted on the Internet. He used thin, high-impact urethane for the armor, cutting it into plates and joining them with some 1,500 rivets and washers. He sculpted a clay helmet mold and then used a liquid resin mix to create the final product. But that was just cosmetic work. He also added a small servo motor that opens the faceplate, as in the movie, and built a gun out of pipes and a motor. LEDs in the eyes and chest-plate further add to the illusion.

In this College Humor video, a game designer is struggling to come up with original ideas for enemy bosses for Mega Man to battle. "Choking Hazard Man"?
YouTube user Apollyphelion brings us this marvelous Dungeons & Dragons-inspired Rube Goldberg machine. It's supposed to give excellent attack dice rolls, and appears to work.
