The Aquarium With a "Naughty Penguin of the Month" Board

The National Aquarium of Zealand knows that penguins may be cute, but they can also be rather bratty. That's why they've instituted a "naughty penguin of the month" board for their resident troublemakers in order to let the public know a little more about the birds they are admiring.

To be fair, they also chronicle the good behaviors of well-behaved penguins as well. For example, the board might point out that Timmy was naughty because he stole fish and pushed another penguin over, but Betty was good for swimming well and waiting paitently for fish. Deep down though, all penguins, even pesky little Timmy are good penguins.

Lifetime National Parks Passes for Seniors Are About to be A Lot More Expensive

(Adventure National Parks by Taylor Rose)

If you're a senior citizen, you can visit all of the national parks for only $10 thanks to a lifetime pass available from the National Park Service. That being said, if you don't have one already, you might want to buy one as soon as possible because the prices are about to go up 800% on August 28. Given that each visit to a national park is $30, even an $80 pass will pay for itself after a few visits, but even so you might want to grab that $10 pass before it's too late.

Delightful Geeky Planters That Are Perfect for Your Desk and Shelves

Etsy seller RedwoodStoneworks specializes in making small plaster creations -particularly planters. Their geeky designs are particularly lovable and feature franchises like Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy.

There are also geek games and toys like D20s and LEGO.

If you're more of an animal nerd though, don't worry, they'll still have you covered with dogs, cats, squirrels, pandas and more.

While most sit flat, there are even some hanging designs available to adorn your walls as well.

Don't miss the rest of the seller's designs over on Etsy.

An Amazon Seller Created An AI to Come Up With Phone Cases -The Result Was Hilarious

A third-party seller on Amazon recently thought they stumbled across a brilliant idea to come up with new cellphone cover designs in practically no time by using an AI program to generate designed based on popular image searches. Unfortunately, the bot's programing somehow went wrong and it started getting increasingly focused on strange medical terms.

The bot created thousands of designs and many of them were hilariously wrong like the ones seen here. Unfortunately, Amazon has since pulled the listings, but you can still see many of the best images over on IFL Science.

Personally, I think they should bring them back, I mean, where else will you be able to find a cell phone cover depicting vaginal discomfort?

See the rest of the absurd images here.

Text This Number With Any Subject and They'll Text You Back Artwork Depicting It

(Image via Jen Carlson)

It's hard to really enjoy artwork every day of our lives when we're so busy with our daily routines, but a new program from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art invites you to interact with art in a quick, easy and fascinating way. With the "Send Me" feature, you simply send a text to 572-51 saying "send me [x]" and they will reply with a piece of art that depicts that subject. Even if you go to the museum on a regular basis, you're still likely to get back artwork you've never seen as only 5% of their collection is ever on display at a time.

Not every topic will get a result though. I tried "send me a racoon" and was told they didn't have anything in the collection matching it. Even so, most subjects will work.

When Restaurants Go Too Far With Presentation

We have previously bemoaned what hipster restaurants have been doing to food, but there are so many terrible things restaurants have been doing with their presentation that it cannot possibly be limited to just one post.

Over on Bored Panda, you can find a list of over 180 absurd restaurant serving ideas and each one is more groanworthy than the next.

Even the ones that look delicious still look impossible to eat.

So see the full list of absurd food presentations over at the link.

Embarrassing Times People Didn't Know Who They Were Talking To

The problem with the internet is that anyone can voice an opinion to a huge audience. That simple fact also makes it so some people assume the person they're talking to has no background in what they are talking about -even when that person is actually a well-known expert in the topic.

Over on Bored Panda, you can see almost 30 ridiculous examples of this exact scenario, many that will leave you groaning.

So see the whole list here.

The Scariest Bridges in the World

Even a safe bridge can be scary to those with a fear of heights, but there's no denying that some bridges are scarier than others -and in fact, some can be terrifying to even those with a brave soul. Some span a massive gap high, high above the ground like the one above in Puente de Ojuela, Mexico...

and others are chilling because of the dangerous-looking building materials like the Hussaini Hanging Bridge in Pakistan.

So check out the full list of terrifying bridges over on Travel and Leisure

This Kitty Wants to be a Pastry Chef

(Video Link)

Kitties tend to knead with their paws when they get petted, but this little fluffball has discovered a much more practical use for his kneading -baking! With this great food video, he was inspired to take his natural instincts to a whole new level. I'm just glad no one shot down his dreams by warning him that most people aren't going to want to eat bread filled with cat fur.

You Can Help Giraffes in Kenya Without Ever Leaving Your Home

Giraffe populations have dropped drastically over the last 20 years. In fact, their numbers in Northern Kenya have dropped 70% over the last two decades. Researchers in the area have set up a number of camera traps to help them better understand the life of wild giraffes, but since every movement sets off the camera trap, there are a ton of images to go through -that's where you come in. You can watch the traps and help count wildlife in the footage on any computer, just go to Wildwatch Kenya and start helping giraffes and other wild animals.

So get started today!

These Cats Are 2 Fast and 2 Furious

(Video Link)

The Fast and The Furious series is one of those things that people either love or hate, but even if you can't stand all the drama and car chases, you might just love 2 Fast 2 Furryest, which features adorable felines in cars that are just too cool. But watch out for that last minute addition to the race, he's an outsider -a real rebel.

Artist Replaces Jurassic Park Dinosaurs With Those From the Show Dinosaurs

Since Jurassic Park has been out for over 20 years, we all know exactly what those dinosaurs look like. But what if they weren't quite so accurate and instead looked like those lovably goofy dinosaurs from the 90s TV show, Dinosaurs?

Artist Jen Lewis took the steps neccessary to make the crossover none of us realized we needed. Personally, I just wish someone made this into a full video because that would be all too brilliant.

You can see the rest of the pics on Jen's Twitter.

Slater's 50/50 Introduces the Most 'Merican Food Since Apple Pie

Every year for the Fourth of July, Southern California burger chain Slater's 50/50 introduces a new version of their outrageous 'Merica burger that always includes a 100% bacon patty. In the past, that has meant adding bacon to the bun, cheese, sauce and any other place they could squeeze in a little extra smoked pork butt (including in coleslaw and baked bean toppings). This year though, they decided to work in the old expression "as American as apple pie" while creating the new 'Merica burger and the result is a 100% bacon patty topped with bacon apple pie filling and bacon American cheese all topped with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream (though you have to wonder why they didn't just go ahead and make bacon vanilla ice cream). If that sounds like too much bacon for you, then you can always try the bacon apple pie dog, which is made of a half beef/half bacon frank also topped with bacon apple pie filling and vanilla ice cream.

Find out more about the burger and where you can get it at Slater's 50/50

To Celebrate Canada Day, Tim Hortons' is Introducing A Poutine Doughnut

This Canada Day will mark the country's 150th anniversary. To celebrate, Tim Hortons' will be introducing a poutine doughnut -though, oddly, the savory and sweet treat will only be available in America. "Our new Canadian-inspired treats are a great way for Americans to get in on the 150th celebration of their friendly neighbour next door," said a representative in a statement. Canadians do get some treats to celebrate though, including maple Timbits, a white and red velvet muffin, a Dutchie doughnut and a Nanaimo bar doughnut.

You can read more about the restaurant's celebratory menu over on CBCNews

SpongeBob and Patrick Would Be Nightmarish in Real Life

Whenever SpongeBob characters are shown "in real life" in the show or movies, they always appear as their real-life counterparts, be it a kitchen sponge, a starfish, a squirrel or a squid. But what if the characters were real with the same physical characteristics as the cartoons?

Well that's what artist Miguel Vasquez dreamed up in his incredible 3D creations. As you can see -the result is absolutely horrifying.

You can see more of the artist's work on his website.
