Scotland's Gorgeous Garden of Cosmic Speculation

The Garden of Cosmic Speculation has occasionally been called the most important garden in the 21st century and I don't think that's an overstatement considering just how eye-catching the mathematically-inspired garden is. Read the story about the park and enjoy more pictures over at Environmental Graffiti.

Banks Want To Charge You For Saying Bank

The Onion always has some great satire, but this radio piece on the banks trying to charge $.75 every time a customer says the word "bank." I'm glad I use a credit union or else this article would cost me.

20 Unbelievable Video Game Stories

Whoever said video games have no real-world applications has obviously never heard about the little boy who saved his sister from a rampaging moose thanks to the skills he learned playing World of Warcraft:
When the beast went on the offensive, Hans knew the first thing he had to do was taunt it so that it would leave his sister alone and she could run to safety. "Taunting" is a move one uses in World of Warcraft to get monsters off of the less-well-armored team members.

Once he was a target, Hans remember another skill he'd picked up at level 30 in 'World of Warcraft' -- he feigned death. The moose lost interest in the inanimate Hans and wandered off into the woods.

Oddee has two great lists each with ten video game incidents you won't believe.

Bless This Hizzy Cross Stitch

CraftZine has a great interview with the guys who run the Steotch website, a haven for humorous cross stitch, and while the interview is worth a read, it's this "Bless This Hizzy Fo Shizzle" cross stitch that really caught my attention. It's the first cross stitch I've ever seen that makes me think of Snoop Dogg.

Parrot Parents Name Their Kids

For years scientists have known that each parrot has a unique call that other birds use to address them, but now they've discovered that the parents of the species are responsible for naming their chicks. They observed the parent birds using a different call for each chick long before the babies can communicate.

An 8' Tall R2D2 Statue

This amazing 96" R2D2 is made from cardboard and duct tape and some spray paint. If you want to see it in person and you happen to be near Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, as it's about to be displayed in the “Dr. StrangeLen or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Make the Art”exhibit.

A Television You Can Wear

Dave Forbes created this 60" LED tv coat that's powered by a 12V battery. Unsurprisingly, he designed it specifically for use at the Burning Man festival.

Personally, I'd rather carry around a tablet or laptop so I could watch television myself, but I guess I'm just greedy like that.
