Times That People Destroyed a Priceless Attraction

People are people as the old saying goes and that means sometimes people do stupid things and on rare occassion, those stupid things result in priceless pieces of art, historical artifacts and amazing natural formations being destroyed. This Travel.alot artilce details 10 such tales, ranging from people making totally understandable mistakes to mindblowingly stupid behaviors that make you just hate people. For example:

Goblin Valley State Park is named for its goblins or "hoodoos"—rock formations that look like enormous boulders sitting atop tiny perches. The rock itself is 170 million years old, and it took some 25 million years of erosion to carve the shapes as they appear today. Boy Scout leaders Dave Hall, Glenn Taylor, and Dylan Taylor filmed themselves toppling one over, claiming it was a "safety hazard." The three men were kicked out for violating the Scouts' "Take only pictures, leave only footprints" precepts, and were given a year's worth of probation and fines.

A year's probation? That's nothing for destroying a priceless natural formation!

New Jersey Man Arrested After Owing Over One Million Dollars in Tolls

New Jersey is well known for its toll roads, but while the small fees are normally a minor annoyance to most drivers, one man is actually facing jail time for owing over one million dollars in tolls. Of course, he didn't drive all those miles on his own -Lester Morales owns a trucking company in the state that sends more than 100 trucks through the tolls more than 100 times a day.

When he was arrested for theft of services, Morales was about to board a flight to Aruba, although his lawyer says he was only going to go on a short vacation and wasn't fleeing the country to escape his bills.

The Best Restaurants in Disney Parks

Disneyland and Disney World have better restaurants than the typical theme park. Whether you're in the mood for fine dining, something perfect for kids or a little bit of both, the parks have you covered. And thanks to Travel and Leisure, now you can know which of the restaurants at the park are the best no matter what you're looking for.

Of course, if you want to visit all the restuarants, you'll have to travel both coasts and different parks and hotels, but if you're a big enough Disney fan, that won't be much of a problem anyway.

So check out the whole list at Travel and Leisure.

This Poor Sparrow Needed Help, But a Friendly Farmer Was There to Save Him

Idaho resident Nelson Wilson has a heated water tank for his horses that birds like to drink from during the winter. Unfortunately, this little sparrow got his feet wet and then decided to take a break on the metal fence, leaving him stuck with nowhere to go.

While the bird was scared of Nelson as he approached, he seems to have accepted that the man was trying to help him by the end. A little warm breath and some patience were ultimately all it took to save the little guy.

Secrets of the Louvre Museum

The Louvre is easily the most famous museum in the world, but even a number of people who have visited don't actually know that much about the place itself. Whether you have been there or want to visit in the future, you'll want to check out these fascinating facts about the museum

For example, did you know the original building dates back to the 12th century and that you can still see the remains of the moat inside the museum? Or that many of the pieces on display are only there thanks to plundering on the part of Napoleon Bonaparte? Or that there is now an official Da Vinci Code themed route to explore the museum?

These Squirrels Are Running a Chocolate-Theft Ring

A convenience store in Toronto noticed their were having quite a few chocolate bars going missing. When they figured out who was taking the chocolates, the family who runs the store had quite the charming surprise.

(Video Link)

Over the years a local band of squirrels stole dozens of chocolate bars from the shop. As it turns out, the family itself may be to blame -years ago they started feeding the birds outside the shop and the excess food may have lured the squirrels into the area. Once the free food was gone, the squirrels thought there still must be some free snacks somewhere.

Turn Your Old Fruit Into Wine and Beer With This Nearly-Magical Device

If you buy a lot of fresh fruit, you probably see it go bad here and there. Now you can do better than lemonade out of lemons by making wine or cider out of your old fruit. Supposedly you can even turn the fruit into mead -though obviously that requires more honey than it does fruit. The Alchema device is currently available for pre-order and while it's a pretty penny at $429, that could be a bargain for people who drink a lot of craft brews and end up tossing a lot of fruit. Best of all, you won't be wasting food anymore.

What Kind of a School Lets Kids Do a Scarface Play?

(Video Link)

Those fudging cock-a-roaches! How could they possibly stop a child's dream of playing Scarface? Seriously, this absurdly adorable Scarface reanactment was actually performed as a school play. It's hard to believe until you see the parents applauding at the end. But as to why this was performed at school or who thought this was a good idea, these are the things that will continue to haunt you long after watching this video.

Update: Thank you Uncleblob for pointing out that this wasn't actually a real school play but was actually created by professional director Marc Klasfeld. Even so, the people in the audience are actually the parents of the children on stage, so that sense of paternal pride is certainly real.

Finally You Can Have Your Poop Emoji and Eat it Too

The poop emoji has been a runaway success over the last few years, but for those who wish they could just take a big bite out of it, you can finally get your wish. This crappy dessert was created by Rancho Santa Margarita's The Doughnut Parlor. It's a chocolate cake donut with dark chocolate icing, covered in a spiral of chocolate buttercream and acccessorised with edible candy eyeballs.

While some people might have a hard time biting down on poop, the emoji donut has surprisingly become their biggest seller since it was released.

Season One of SyFy's The Expanse Recapped With Cats

(Video Link)

The Expanse is largely considered one of the most scientifically accurate science fiction shows ever. That being said, the recap version enacted by cats may not be quite as accurate -but it is the most adorable science fiction show ever (or at least a recap of one).

Warning for those who might want to check out the show at someone but haven't yet watched season one: there are quite a few spoilers here.

Things You May Have Wondered About the Pope

Even if you're not Catholic, you've still probably wondered a few things about the Pope before. What does he get paid? Can a pope own a pet? Do popes get vacations? Why do so many popes own those weird red shoes? These are all popular questions about the Pope. For answers to all these questions and more, you'll want to check out this great Top Tenz article.

Damn You Allergies!!!

Allergies can be a real bear of a problem, but at least they can be good for a laugh on occassion. This delightful comic is by artist Holly Hindle, who chooses to share her real life experiences with depression and anxiety by drawing herself in bear form. You can follow her clever comic, The Bear Minimum, on Tumblr.

13 Countries You Might be Surprised to Know Speak English

If you want to travel the world but don't speak other languages (and hey, no one can speak them all, right?) it's often helpful to travel to places where the locals have a good handle on your language. If you're reading this, I'm assuming you speak English and good news -so do the countries in this great Thrillist article. Not every person in these countries actually speaks English, but each of them have a large enough English population and enough friendly folks that you should be able to get by.

Of course, not every country with a large English speaking population is on the list, I would add pretty much all of Scandanavia, as well as France and Switzerland and commenters on the article have plenty more places they would add. In fact, the comments section could be some of the most helpful information in the article. So read the whole thing here.
