Meet Maddie, she's quickly becoming one of the most popular dogs on the internet. Why? Because she can stand on all kinds of things. According to her owner and photographer, documenting Maddie standing on things is “a super serious project about dogs and physics."
I don't know about you guys, but I always thought that most street name endings were pretty much assigned at random. As it turns out, there is a distinct difference between roads, avenues, boulevards, ways and streets.
Roads run between two distant points — two towns, for example. In each of those towns, you’ll find streets: paved roads lined with houses and other buildings.
Sometimes your critters just won't take "no" for an answer when it comes to getting petting. Fortunately, when they're this cute, it's hard to say deny them anyway.
We've already featured the works of Hanksy, but he's finally moved on from Tom Hanks and started working on other actors of note, most notably, Ted Danson and Bill Cosby. The results are unsurprisingly awesome.
Andy J. Hunter is a master of geek artistry with a variety of fun images like this great Post Apocalyptic Spiderman and a great image showing what happens when The Muppets meet Lord of the Rings. Don't miss the rest over on his website for some great geek artwork.
Sure superhero fan art can be fun on its own, but you know what’s better? Non-superheroes suddenly transformed into amazing men and women of comic book lore. Sure they might not be as good at saving the world, but from an aesthetic perspective, they’re way more fun.
Futurama
Perhaps one of the most epic superhero mashup artworks around is this great Futurama X-Men Meld by DeviantArt user Gottabecarl. Can you identify all of the characters in this massive artwork? Be warned, you might have to head to his DeviantArt page just to be able to see them all in their full scale.
Muppets
If there was anyone Muppet that best matches Wolverine, DeviantArt user Rahzzah totally nailed it as Animal. That being said, I don’t know how well Beaker would serve as any superhero. He’s not exactly the bravest Muppet around. Personally, I think casting Miss Piggy as Phoenix seems like a much more natural choice.
Community Characters
When the jury was still out on whether or not Community would be renewed for another season, artist Aviv Or expressed his feelings on the matter by showing just how much he thought of the show’s characters. Personally, I adore the idea of Abed playing the role of Professor X.
The Smurfs and Archie
Ever wonder where Mystique got all those tiny skulls on her belt? Caanan Grall has the answer with this single frame that explains so much about her back story. While it might not be as informative, his take on Clark Kent taking over for Archie is certainly just as entertaining.
Ren & Stimpy
Have you ever wondered what Batman and Robin would be like if they were mixed with a grouchy Chihuahua and a obese house cat? DeviantArt user Stejam13 has your answer with this wonderful combination of the classic comic and the legendary Nicktoon, Ren & Stimpy.
The Fro Design store recently put up this great wanted poster for The Doctor. I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to see who fills in that last window.
This year's Westminster Dog show winners was a Pekingese and while most people know what the dogs look like and might even have a friend or family member who have one, you'd be surprised how much you don't know about the breed. For example:
Lions aren’t common in China, so when artists wanted to model the big cat — a symbol of the Buddha — they used the Pekingese, hence their “lion dog” nickname.
The dogs also have quite a royal bloodline, as you'll find out if you read the whole article.
Etsy seller MyAlterKnits sells scarves in the shape of the sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who -your choice of the 9/10th doctor's screwdriver or the 11th. She also has a few related knitted doodads in her shop like a Cyberman helmet hat and River Song's TARDIS book cover. For those that don't dig the Who, she sells other geek goodies as well.
It might not surprise you that Call of Duty 4 was banned in the Middle East or that Postal was banned in Australia, but some of these top ten banned games are a bit of a shock. For example, Mass Effect was banned in Singapore for its lesbian love scene. The most surprising item on the list though? Football Manager 5 (that's a soccer game for my fellow Americans). Why was it banned? Because the game lists Tibet as an independent country and that is just not acceptable for The People's Republic of China.
Infographics are often used as a marketing ploy for shady websites, but sometimes they can be created with much more honest motives. For example, this one was created by Drake Martinet as a clever way to propose to his girlfriend and it's sweet as all heck. Click on the link to read the rest.
This great hat comes complete with rainbows, pastries and kitty ears. If you want to make your own, the pattern is available for purchase and supposedly it's ideal for novice knitters (I can't knit, so it would be hard for me either way.)
Obviously if you're reading a great site like Neatorama, you're already getting plenty of great info everyday, but if you still want to read more fascinating facts, then you might consider subscribing to the Now I Know newsletter by Dan Lewis -that way, everyday you'll get a new cool trivia bit in your email.
I'm sure many people will consider this to be animal abuse, but given how old the video is, I think we can overlook any cruelty in favor of something this cute.
