A long time ago, I helped a Polish man travel in the US. He spoke almost no English, but knew German. Back then, I spoke some German, so I translated for him to the flight attendants. When we arrived in Chicago, I had the honor of calling his son and announcing that Papa had arrived.
Robert England lived in the same coastal vacation city I did once upon a time. The first time I saw him, was as I looked up from an ATM. He smiled. I freaked out.
Imagine having Freddie Kruger almost upon you and smiling.
Most places one types (browser, e-mail, document writer, etc.) have automatic spell checking if not autocorrect. I think these were items entered in a Google search for information, not just to check spelling.
Cannot believe that I am the first to weigh in! While I have not read the more modern ones, my parents save Galaxy and Astounding copies from the 40's and 50's so I can say that I have read almost every author from then through 1975. For that time period, the list is spot on. Thank heaven they included Dhalgren.
The only omission I might suggest is "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card. It was a well received return to adventure based SciFi that can be appreciated without the need to be aware of social or psychological commentary.
"Still, for the life of me, I can't figure out why a 1998 Buick would cost that much." I agreed, but a quick search of Buicks 1997 to 2005 (in California) showed prices from $5-7 K. Amazing ability to retain value.
Got one of these as a gift decades ago. No matter how you prepare the bird, it comes out moist with the dark and light meat finishing at the same time. As a bonus, it takes an hour less than package recommendations.
Hmm... I can do one of these and have seen all of them before. On the other hand, there are a few superhuman powers I have that are not on the list. For example, can you drive past a Krispy Kreme when the "Hot Now" light is on?
