We kind of had a famine, you know, and therefore every dishes is sacred and food should be respected. I'm only half joking, to this day I can't bring myself to throwing away food (my waistline hates Irish food guilt).

I think it's a sacrilege to serve turkey w/o gravy. Cranberry sauce, are you kidding me? Whenever I put on a Thanksgiving spread the ONLY ONE who reached for the cranberry gelatinous mass was my dad and he had dementia.
Turkey can be sooo dry - just listen to these peoples' comments about it being dry! Drench the bird in gravy, also the mashed potatoes, please.

My daughter made a pumpkin soup to die for, with pumpkin (butternut squash), onions, cream, and savory spices. Then she gave up milk and won't make it any more, and no one knows what recipe she used!
