Heating gadgets are usually a waste of energy and money besides being dangerous. They are the second most common cause of house fires and power surges as they turn off can harm computers and medical equipment. My suggestion is to put on some clothes, wear slippers and invest in blankets instead of smart modules.
Some plastics have a memory of their original shape. Heating and rapid cooling can set it into different shapes, but it returns to the original with time and gentle heat. Think of using a heating iron on straight hair. Put an empty 2 liter bottle in an oven on low. It will not burn, but will return to its original shape.
There are factors other than profits that drive people out of a workplace. The one I see is technology changes. Staff that cannot learn, or fights change even if they can, are encouraged to move on.
With teflon pans, I do not bother. With any other surface, it prevents the first batch of bacon from sticking to the pan and eventually burning onto the surface. In short, it is a way to guarantee no scrubbing at clean up.
