Consider, for a moment, that the fluff might spark a desire to read Ender's Game and other books you consider more fit for consumption.

After all, in moderation even Twinkies are permissible in a diet and not every written work is even possible to be Shakespeare.

That's true, Edward! I also gave up ironing long ago and don't even have an ironing board. If you use a dryer and hang, fold, or properly store clothing as soon as it's dry, you don't need to iron. I do keep an iron for emergencies, because with teenagers, there's always the possibility of a "situation."

I stopped ironing a decade ago and do not have a single wrinkle when I walk out of the house. Nothing goes to the cleaners. No one irons for me. My shirts are 100% cotton. Wrinkles are a choice, not an inevitability.

I doubt the kids ever complain about big government. They probably don't even know how much their parents pay for lunches ($2 at my kids' school). They just know there isn't as much as there was last year in the cafeteria.

I got four teenagers eating vegetables. Three things that worked for various cases:

1. They planted, cultivated, picked, and ate them from the garden.
2. I made a homemade "salad bar" so they could just pick whatever raw vegetables they wanted, and they sometimes even made a salad with them.
3. I explained about maturing taste buds and how they were less sensitive to bitterness, so they should all try vegetables again that they thought they didn't like to see if they were "mature." And they all want to be "mature."

I'm not sure you know what liberty means.... The ACLU is not taking away any of your PERSONAL Liberties. No, they point out hypocrisy within social constructs in a PUBLICLY FUNDED space- Separate but equal is still separate. Recently they fought FOR the KKK to allow them to sponsor an adopt a highway program because the state refused to allow them to do so, when other groups like the Boyscouts (also an exclusionist group - women and LGBT people) has historically been allowed to. The KKK won, but then the state - went ahead and renamed the stretch of highway the "Rosa Parks Memorial Highway".

The ACLU isn't saying that private citizens are not allowed to have Father Daughter Dances, you can have all the private events you want. They are saying that Public Schools are not the place to have gender segregated events. Why is it not a Father / Daughter baseball game, or a Mother / Son Dance? The ACLU is protecting your right to not have to worry about public funds being used to create separate spaces. Your LIBERTIES are safe and sound - you can stop clutching your pearls now.

The best way to get kids to eat anything is to include them in the cooking process. Why are we trying to condition our kids to accept things that are marketed towards them? Reenforcing a consumer culture for young kids is counter intuitive to critical thought. Also you are just fibbing to your kids about stuff.

I am shocked, shocked, I tell you! that Neato would stoop to this obvious level of pander towards the bicycle-based bike-community. This site is clearly favouring things never mentioned in Mystical Sky-Friend Magazine, or any other biblical source. Shame on you.

I think it comes down to some people not being able to distinguish between "their belief", "stupid statements made in support of their belief", and "a personal attack on the believers themselves".

Granted, all these things are somewhat linked together, but most civilized folks won't make the ad hominem attack. Many won't begrudge the belief itself. However, there are a whole lot of folks who love to see stupid statements ridiculed.

These folks just need to learn how to distinguish "ridicule or dismissal of stupid statements made in an effort to justify forcing the belief on everyone" from "persecution of the believers".
