At our old house, we had a hummingbird nest right outside of our window. That summer, we watched the momma bird feed her two babies every day.

Then one day, there was only one chick in the nest! I guessed one fell down (or maybe it was pushed out?)

Anyways, the remaining chick got twice the food ration and grew up to be quite chubby, so we named it so. Chubby flew around and had children of his own the next summer (or was it the summer afterwards). We named the baby Son of Chubby.

Actually, it was Ape Lad's suggestion that we put the design up for a vote!

@cabooglio: I love Ape Lad’s work, but I’m not wild about any of these. They have the flavor of something that was “suggested”. They feel art-directed and flat.

The only thing I requested from Ape Lad was that it has Neatorama somewhere in the design. I'm not sure that qualifies as "art-directed," but perhaps it was. I think the obvious inspiration was the Neatorama Monkey.

Oooh! Back in May - I think I was in Paris or something like that and didn't get to watch Neatorama closely. I think I've duplicated many of Miss C's posts since. :(

Actually, I'm finding it harder and harder to remember what's been on the blog... you'll probably see more duplicates in the future.

@ted & red: I think that site was bogus, designed to poke fun at gun owners.

I don't think so, riflegear.com is an e-commerce website with hundreds of gun accessories. The website in question is their blog.

There's another photo at Armory Airbrush.

@Betty: Nah, you're wrong about memorization. It's a much maligned education too. To be fair, memorization is often overused.

Nevertheless, it is a basic and important component of learning, especially for young children who have yet to develop analytical skills.

Behold, I have resurrected Christophe's ASCII art (the trick is to use the HTML entity for non-breaking space).

And who are you going to believe, the scientific consensus on global warming, or random comments from the Interweb?

And does anyone notice that as long as you put anything in the context of a conspiracy, people on the Net naturally assumes that it's the obvious truth...

Attention graffiti "artist", please imagine your most valuable earthly possession - say your car - and imagine someone taking a spray paint and expressing their art form on it without your permission, whether you like it or not.
