7 Incredible Natural Phenomena You May Have Never Seen

Weather is a fairly compelling spectacle. Not just weather itself, but some of the weirder weather phenomena that occurs throughout the world. The stuff we hear about, but never see. Truthfully, in regards to some of the things mentioned on the following list, you may not even HEARD of them.

While everyone can say they have seen a particularly tumultuous rainstorm before, what about when it rains fish in Honduras? That is one we might not as familiar with.

Witnesses of this phenomenon state that it begins with a dark cloud in the sky followed by lightning, thunder, strong winds and heavy rain for 2 to 3 hours. Once the rain has stopped, hundreds of living fish are found on the ground. People take the fish home to cook and eat them.

I am not even sure what is weirder. The fact that the sky rains fish semi-regularly in Honduras, or the fact that the natives take the strange fish, cook it, and eat it. To them, it is a gift from the Gods. To us, it is science.

This list over at Oddee of strange natural phenomena is well worth checking out, as raining fish seems to be the tip if the iceberg. Don't worry. It is not all weather related. One of the entries is about goats who climb trees.

Yup. You just read that correctly.

Two Anonymous Artists Sneak Into Classroom Every Night and Do Elaborate Chalk Drawings

ImageCredits: Danger Dust

One thing about school is, it can a little tiring at times. You trot from class to class, and over the course of the day, it is hard to keep that fire burning inside. But what if, every time you entered one of the classrooms, there were staggering works of art drawn on the board to inspire the class? Do you feel like that would make a difference? Well, mystery art collective, DangerDust, do just that. Descibed as "two anonymous artist who love chalk dust", they are like the Banksy of the chalk art movement.

The Awesome Daily assembled this brilliant gallery of their work to show people just how mind-blowing something simple as chalk on a blackboard could be. Just the way in which they blend amazing quotes with art that, at times, looks as if it is coming in three dimensions of the board itself, will leave you in awe.

Also, this makes you think. The next time you see a kid doubled over some chalk, doodling away in his driveway, stop and take a moment to realize where that could potentially lead one day.

This Old Man's Version of "Say Something" Will Leave You in Tears

To start this post off right, I will say you need to know about the fox piano. This was a piano painted and put in Ontario as an art project by artist Katriona Dean. It is there to inspire, to incite, and to encourage anyone to sit down and make beautiful music at any point. She sometimes goes by her project with a camera to see what she can catch on film. On this particular occasion, she found Michael Anthony McNamara playing the A Great Big World/ Christina Aguilera duet solo, "Say Something."

Though already a beautiful and heart-wrenching song, this man's voice and sense of wisdom just brings something else to the song completely. It is very sad still, though. I will warn you. It almost feels sadder when a man sings it who is later in the years.

I will say this: the fly that seems to stay on his shoulder the whole time, as if it is listening to the song, makes it all the more surreal an helps keep you from completely breaking down and bawling at the beauty of it.

Wait Until You See Inside A Klassan Van

Vans have a partcicular reputation in our society. One could also go so far as to say vans have a pretty sordid reputation in our society. There are two kinds of vans, really. The creepy vans with old men who want to give you candy, and the vans soccer Moms and Dads drive. But now, thanks to German car designer Klessen, the van game is all about to change. Not even sure if there is a "van game", but now there is, because now, vans have game (finally).

Whilst outside, it may look like a regular (albeit nice van), wait until you see what it looks like from the inside.

Yes folks, Klassan just made the limo of the van world. Let's none of us pretend we saw that coming.

Clever, Visual Representations of Famous Quotes

A quote that gets you at the right time, when you really need it, can be like food for the soul. It can get you out of bed, it can inspire you, and it can shift how you feel in that moment. Honestly, a powerful quote can lock itself in your brain and you can carry it with you, the rest of your life. Seems artist Ryan McArthur knew this, and did some breathtaking illustations that visually represent the famous quotes he so delicatly brings to life.

This Is Marvelous put together a rather extensive gallery of Ryan McArthur's illustarted quotes for you all to see, and it quite a thing of beauty. When you match up a good quote with a good font and great design, the quote seems to take on a life of its own. Like something that was already powerful sprouting wings to carry you even further. Check it out and may it inspire a wonderful day in you.

Compilation of Incredibly Close Calls

The funny thing about life is, one minute you could be enjoying it, and the next moment, something cataclysmic can happen. It may seem an exxagerated thing to say, but it is true. You want proof of that, look no further than this collection of very close calls, all caught on tape. While these people all got out of these situations with minor or no injuries, if you look at the scenarios they were in, safe to say things could have played out a lot worse in most of those scenarios. Yes, it can be a little scary, but just think, all these people survived all this situations, in most cases, mirculously. Funny how a random step to the left can save your life and you don't even know it at the time.

It's odd how in some of the videos that are no reaction from the people, though. Pretty sure if I almost got run over by a car I would be doing a dance of joy the moment I realized I was still alive. Check out the BMR Pranks and Fails page on YouTube for more awesome videos like this one.

25 Weirdest Batman Covers

To Batman's credit, he has been a versatile hero through the ages. While some of his henchmen and rogues gallery are well-known and beloved (and feared) bad guys, some of the situations Batman found himself in during his golden age could best be desrcibed as "insane". From situations like the above scenaio which has him fighting apes AND gangsters, to covers that would never be made now due to the changes in societies feelings towards certain issues, sometimes you just wish someone would put together a gallery of some of Batman's weirdest covers. Then you remember that this is the internet, and someone has.

Vulture Carefully assembled this list of the 25 weirdest Batman covers for us all to look over in awe and amazement. Some of them will make you laugh, some of them will make you scratch your head, but most of them will just remind you that Batman is one of the coolest (and easily most insane) heroes and comics out there.

Take A Moment To Enjoy Some Awesome Kevin Keele Artwork

If you are even a slight fan of art, the internet is like a magical paradise always feeding you more and more awesome stuff for you to digest with your eyes and soul. Like a gallery that updates every day and always, making it so you never have to see the same thing twice and can always discover new artists and master craftsman who will blow your mind with their work. That is just what happened to me this week when I stumbled on artist Kevin Keele's website. The man seems to be able to do anything, and do it exceptionally well.

From chalk art:

To simple (yet simply awesome) sketches:

His personal site (Be Awesome!) is linked above, and you can also check out his Tumblr too, which doesn't have much yet, but has a dinosaur with guns attached to it so it is still worth checking out in its earliest phase. I mean, who can refuse a dinosaur with guns? No one.

Art feeds the soul, so why not let Kevin Keele make you lunch today?

The Best of the Joe Rogan Experience

It may have been easy for some people to write off comedian Joe Rogan as a meat head when they first saw him. A ripped guy who seems very manly, and is usually talking with glee about people's bones being broken in the UFC. Truth is, beneath his gruff exterior is a man who knows much, about some very intense and varying subjects. From the positive potential of psychedelics to the idea that we exist within and across multiple dimensions of reality, his Joe Rogan Experience podcast is quite a trippy ride that will open even the most cynical and clouded eyes.

But for those who have never listened before and have no idea just how deep the waters run, Adjust Your Perspective put together this awesome list of then ten best moment from the Joe Rogan Experience. All I ask is if you look at him as some characterization, take a moment to check the list out. Dude really is a genius, and has  gift for shifting the way other people think as well. Do your brain a favor and give it a shot. You might just be surprised at how "third eye" opening it really is.

How To Play the Hurdy Gurdy

The Hurdy Gurdy is an instrument that was used in medieval times to make people get jiggy. The instrument itself was made of wood and stringed, as you can see, but how you play it is what sets it apart from most other musical instrument. Well, that and the odd droning sounds it makes while you crank/play it. Not only do most people not know what a Hurdy Gurdy is, most people have never seen one or even heard one (that they are aware of, anyway). Just think, by the end of this video, you could know how to play one. Now you just need to find a Hurdy Gurdy.

(YouTube Link)

Fact is, you bust out a Hurdy Gurdy people will just genuinely have their mind blown that someone actually has one, nevermind if they can play it. That is, the three people who actually know what one is. Regardless, it is good to know everything, so now you can add the Hurdy Gurdy to your vast base of knowledge.

8 Roller Coasters Only the Bravest Souls Would Ride

I can clearly remember my first introduction into the world of roller coasters, and it was one that scarred me for life. There was this little amusement park in Dartmouth, Massachusetts called Lincoln Park. An amusement park built in 1892, and with rides that reflected that. There was a coaster at Lincoln Park called the Comet. It was one of the last few wooden coasters left in the country, and come to find out, mere weeks after I rode it the first time in the 80's as a wee lad, it killed someone. I say that like it grew arms and beat someone to death, but it may as well have.

Thus began my love/hate relationships with roller coasters, a relationship which ended after my last coaster ride (on the Superman at Six Flags New England, seven years back) resulted in a friend's collapsed lung. Yup, that was about it for me and coasters. But I am still super intrigued by them, as most people are. With the recent news of a 4D roller coaster that is set to revolutionize how we vomit in mid-air, I thought it might be a nice time to assemble a list of 8 roller coasters only the bravest souls in the world would ride. Keep in mind, I may have been one of those people once, but not anymore. Now I will just cheer for you all from the ground, if that's okay?

1. Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey

(YouTube Link)

This is it, folks. This is the tallest roller coaster in the world, and one of the fastest, clocking in at 128 mph. The first drop alone is 416 feet. I know it is hard to try and imagine that, which is why we included a video that will make it so you don't have to imagine it. You can live it vicariously through your computer. Also, for the two of you who have Google glass, this must actually be a pretty cool way to use the glasses. You get to take the ride without having to pay the admission.

Or you can just sit real close to your tablet. Up to you.

You know if this list is opening this strong, there are going to be a few here that blow your mind. For example....

2. Sky Scream Coaster at Holiday Park in Germany

(YouTube Link)

The Sky Scream coaster lands on the list for very different reasons than the other coasters. While the above coaster may have a massive drop, and few others on the list may be known for their heights and speeds, the aptly named Sky Scream is a wholly different type of coaster. More about the twists and turns and loops when there shouldn't be any, it seems like a coaster that only the bravest souls would ride.

Billy The Butcher's Superhero Beer Art

Can we imagine, for just one simple moment, that superhero's had beer brands? Can I live in a world where Deadpool can have his own lager that I can go buy at the local package store after a long shift of writing stuff? I mean, imagine how good a beer brewed by Wolverine would be? The dude loves the stuff. Lives off it, even.

Alas, I cannot live in that world. You see, that world does not exist.

What is great, though, is I can live in a world where artist Billy Butcher can illustrate faux beer labels as if they were the beers of superheroes, and that's a pretty good world to live in, too. I would say Hellboy's "HellBeer" wins for catchiest name. You can see why these would never be made, as they could very much appeal to children. Or grown men who think they are children, like me.

Either way, great concept and slick execution.

Artist Turns Circuit Boards Into A Sculpural Metropolis

It is crazy to think that there was a time when art was stuck in two dimensions. When creators were given canvas', not realizing all around them could be used and utilized as artwork. The art world has clearly changed and evolved over time. They say one man's trash is another man's treasure, but in this case, some people's trash is another man's fantastical sculpture.

The artist's name is Robin Tarbet, and the piece you see above is called "A Temporary State to Rise and Fall Again", which you can see in full detail on his site. If the circuit boards fit, he would stack them, one on top of the other. If they did not fit, that is when he would stack out wider with the boards. The end result is a wonderful facsimile of a city, made by what seems to drive us most lately:

technology.

Dolly Parton's "Jolene" Slowed Down Sounds Like A Different Song (and It's Awesome)

If you do not own a record player, it should be known that you are not hearing music right. Don't get me wrong, there are the over-hyped, celebrity, DJ headpones, and there are high quality digital recordings you can get. But people who grew up listening to a record player know, that is just the greatest way to listen to music. Maybe not technically,  but from a nostalgia stand point it wins, hands down.

The record player also has some really cool features, too. Like being able to slow down the music you listen to. While in most cases, slowed down music just sounds like, well, slowed down music, in the case of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," something extraordinary happens. It is like the song transforms and is suddenly sung perfectly, just  a bit more depressing and with a guy's voice instead.

Check it out yourself.

(YouTube Link)

A song about heartbreak suddenly takes on an even more somber tone. I will even go so far as to say I am not a fan of the original, but the slowed down de-make (seems a fitting word) really works for me. See, you can't do THAT on modern machinery.

Oh wait, you can? Man, I gotta leave the house more.

Everything Wrong With Frozen In Ten Minutes or Less

When I first found the YouTube channel for Cinema Sins I was both excited and a little crushed. Excited because I love film and love the deep examination and dissection of it as an art form. The crushed part came from the fact that I knew the channel would probably show me some flaws in some movies I really enjoyed. A good example of a polarizing movie choice is the following: Frozen.

A beloved Disney movie that somehow took on legs of its own and became the most successful animated movie of all time is one you have to be slightly careful when you decided to pick apart, piece by piece. Luckily, the guys behind the site clearly know what they are doing, and how to do it. So though most of us may have enjoyed it, take a moment to check out everything wrong with Frozen. It is not a cruel or as painful as it sounds.

(YouTube Link)

Don't worry if they point out something that really bothers you. The trick is, you just got to let it go. Sorry folks, that was low hanging fruit and I had to go for it.
