Once trout fishing in a small stream in the northern Catskills with my son, he caught a 10" native brook trout. The trout's lower body was quite extended. I wondered what it had eaten. Cutting it open we found a water snake that was longer than the trout. Those trout were really wild.
My sister in law up in SE Ontario still has milk in the bag. Yes, it is odd. Metric is really annoying when it comes to groceries, recipes, carpentry, etc. Works well in scientific endeavors where it belongs.
Would we even have USPS deliveries if there was no junk mail? Maybe it's time for it to contract a little bit reducing their overhead and our paper spam.
When the girls in college began wearing them one professor in a class I was taking decided that student discussion was best served if the seating in the room was in a circle. The first day it was instituted, the young men in the class (yours truly included) rushed to get to class early and took up all the chairs on one side of the circle. The young ladies who straggled in later were forced to sit on the other side. The next time the class met, the chairs were lined up in the traditional rows. True story.
In the city of Syracuse I never went to an elementary school that had a cafeteria from K-6th grade. We went home for lunch. Hated the cafeterias after that. As a retired school teacher (32 years in secondary public education) I think getting rid of cafeterias is a positive idea. I imagine it would reduce some problems. Probably the teacher's union would be against it, although it could eliminate lunch duty (aka minimum security detail).
I'll wager that there are those who think 911 had nothing to do with radical Islam. Yes, all too many folks who vote are not really very intelligent. Let's face it, Abe Lincoln could not get elected today.
While a poor college student at the U of Maine back in the late 50's I would go down to the dorm TV lounge and collect bottles for deposit for spending money. The janitor was mad as it was his "cigar money". In NY a cottage industry was in operation and I'd save up all mine and cash them in every couple of weeks. Here in Florida, we just recycle.
