Big O's Comments

I was stuck alone for about a half an hour between floors in an elevator at Comstock Hall, the entomology bulding at Cornell. Called the campus police on the call box in the car. Sat down till they came and got me out. No cell phone to create goofy videos.

Years ago MrsO. placed the turkey into our oven, turned it on and the baking element burned out. Being Thanksgiving Day, getting it repaired was out of the question. The broiler element was functional, so we tried to roast the bird "upside down" as it were. It didn't work out too well, but we were able to make enough edible to have dinner that day.

I'm abig pizza fan, sometimes too big. Anyway there are big differences between pizzas in different places. The one style i'm not really a fan of is deep dish "Chicago" style. It's like made upside down or something. Hold the dead fish on mine.

Good list. The cavalry trilogy is missing. Shane's words,“A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel, or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.” ring true these days.

The Dairy Bar at Cornell University had a favorite flavor called Sticky Bins. It tasted like them. Somehow, turkey flavored ice cream doen't sound appetizing.

I worked at Cornell University for more than 4 years in entomology research. I was involved in raising Asian Long Horned Beetles. I'm not afraid of spiders as such. Just don't really care for them. Feel the same way about cockroaches.

This particular bridge was built back in the 1930's I believe. I'm not sure when the troubles began. It is on a "parkway" of sorts and designating it as a road for passenger cars only (there is an alternative route available for trucks and buses) would instantly solve the issue. Don't ask me why that hasn't been done. Neither the municipality or railroad involved seem to want to spend the funds needed to either raise the rail line or lower the road. I recall that all overpasses on interstates had to be built high enough to accommodate US military missile carriers.

There's a low railroad bridge north of Syracuse that despite all the warning signs and devices, still gets hit. Once it was a bus and there were fatalities. All too many drivers not really paying attention.
