Doctors with a sense of humor are sadly in short supply, because there's something about the job that leaves medical professionals feeling less than affable, but the doctor in this story is a medical student so he still has jokes.
His name is Joseph, and he was supposed to be performing his first surgery when he got stuck in an elevator for an hour.
