now the real test: does it work? i saw a tiny teapot made from a half dime from the early 1900s on antiques roadshow, and it actually worked. it was worth $700 or something like that. it went from a half-dime (that's what they used to call them back then instead of a nickel) to $700.. THANKS INFLATION! lol

Doesn't really matter whether you work in an office or not. I don't work in an office and I definitely work for the man. If you work for McD's, you work for the man. If you're a news anchor or a camera operator, you work for the man. Even if you're a free-lance artist you work for the man. The majority of people DO work in an office, however, but don't be naiive of your forever bound employment to the man... we're all in it together. It sucks, but it's true.

@Lucas: Don't be the youngest person there or else when your birthday comes, everybody else in the office will tell stories of when THEY were your age... This happened to me last week. "Oh when I was 22, I just quit my job, dumped my girlfriend, and moved out here to live with my brother." That's nice. Or they will say "Oh my God you are just a BABY!" Yea. Thanks for the boost.

Nadim Karam obviously read "Invisible Cities" by Italo Calvino. If he didn't, then this is just a crazy coincidence. This "city in the sky" is exactly the city called "baucus" (sp?) in Calvino's book. It is a very pleasant read which paves a nice path to the surreal imagination.

The only thing I'm wondering is if they actually got any tattoo business. It just said criminals came in to sell guns and such... never have I been to a tat parlor and saw a bunch of dudes standing around waiting to pawn their guns off. Maybe I just don't go at the right times... Didn't these 'gangsta thugs' realize something was fishy when there were never any people getting tatooed? If the cops were really smart, they would have had actual tatoo artists giving poeople some ink. They could have put the money they made off the ink towards fighting their cause or I don't know, donate to the homeless.

Maybe a "freakshow" by Hollywood standards... which is a freakshow in itself. I think this is a great idea. Everyone is beautiful, and these women (and others who suffer any kind of ailment) have been stripped of that title by the poparazzi and our ridiculous social standards. Good for them for entering a beauty contest. They may not have all their limbs, but they at least have their pride. I'm going to Hell for saying that...

I agree. I think you would end up numbing the animals' sense of companionship. On the other hand, if this was done with puppies/dogs/cats from the pound, it may be good for them because it would get them out of that environment for some time. It could also harm them for the first reason I said it would be a bad idea. I guess you could compare it to big brother/big sister, but with pets. I don't know.. it's a weird proposition. When in doubt, don't.

i like how this law was put into effect to combat the feminists. "You burn your bra (which actually never happened) we take your sex! no happy for you!"

i think we should take a moment of silence to remember those physicians who created the vibrator.
(zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...zzzzz)

thank you.

There are some housing developments here in ohio (and i'm sure this goes for several others around the country) that don't allow swimming pools for this same reason. it's ridiculous. i agree abestar. housing developments are ugly and lack character. to think that people are so uptight they won't allow a clothes-line because it's too "urban" for their taste... where is our world coming to...? they should drive their hummers off a cliff.

@Weekly: Yea.. sorry.. I feel almost as ridiculous as Hillary should for switching my position so quickly.. But I didn't mean to come off so nastily. It just drives me nuts when people use quotes from the Bible to support their position because it's not a legitimate source. I had to sit through a debate in one of my classes where one of the guys used the Bible as their main argument against gay marriage.. I about jumped out of my seat. But I digress from this apology..

I don't think these peoples' "movement" could be comparable to a religion because they're not really praising anything. It think if you use the same line of logic, any movement in our country's history could be considered religious, but they weren't. It's just another way to bring people together and bring about awareness. It's much harder to voice your opinion when you're in the minority because the majority is supported more. Kudos to them, and thanks for not being an ass-hole back to me. [5 respect points]

@Weekly: It is not illogical and I don't know where you get your information from.

you said: "I kind of made my point about it being a new-age stand-in for religion with their preposterous dietary regimen. It’s a set of beliefs, a community to belong to, and they tell you what to do. I don’t know what source would help that fact to sink in more."

I'm sure it's not a new-age stand-in for religion; that's just ridiculous. Your statement is hypocritical because you obviously have no problem having your own set of beliefs, a community to belong to, and people telling you what to do, evidence of your cute little Bible quote. I don't know what source would help that fact sink in more.

The real question is, does it affect you? No. Should you be so critical of their diets? No. You have no right. You should be giving them credit for believing in something the mass doesn't, not making fun of them. They're not trying to save the world, and neither are the vegans and vegetarians. It's a personal preference. Nobody shit on your beliefs when you became a Christian. Don't shit on them for doing something different.

"In short these are nothing more than belief systems that don’t actually require affecting any meaningful change. But damn if they don’t make one feel superior. Because that was the goal all along."

You're still talking about yourself, right?

There is a lot more about organics that you obviously don't know, as it is more about they system of growth than it is about raising the prices for profit. Have you ever eaten organic food? It tastes waaay better than commercial food.

And i agree with you about the bottled water thing.. it is just a way for companies to make money. If anyone has a little common sense and they're really scared of their tap water, they can buy a water filter. As far as buying from local farms, I totally support it because the local farmers do a lot more than just provide fresh produce. Besides, they're much nicer to look at than skyscrapers.

i have piercings.. tatoos.. and eyeglasses. glasses get snagged on everything. the easy part about them is that they are NOT attached to your body... i can only imagine the discomfort when these pierced babies get snagged on something...

a) this is awesome and hilarious.

b) this gives me another reason (besides the obious ones.. yunno, slave laborors in china.. their newly established manipulative slogan.. only to name 2 of the too-many..) NOT to shop at wal-mart.

c) re: abestar- although very blatant and insulting, it's probably true.
