So if the bad guys are back in the 'past' with plenty of time to kill, so why didn't they just go and save their homeworld? They would have at least 40 years to do so, if they would just stop chasing baby Spock around.
I would disagree with him, I think it is perfectly possible to "overthink" a problem, and a break from the process (or even a party) can certainly help bring relaxation and afterward: a solution.
