Dave 20's Comments
Not terribly original; Solomon had the same idea a while back...
If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat,
and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink,
for you will heap burning coals on his head,
and the LORD will reward you.
Proverbs 25:21-22
Who knew the old guys in the Bible had such a great sense of humor?

Good work, Tepscire! I knew it was around here somewhere. Thanks!

Not long ago I read somewhere about Vlad the Impaler (wish I could remember where...) One of the commenters on that post was Romanian, and there Vlad is a hero to this day. True, he was brutal in his punishments, but the brutality was more or less theatrics designed to instill fear in the country's enemies. And it worked; much larger, stronger enemies (the Turks?) thought twice about attacking Romania.
I'm going on memory of what I read, but the Wikipedia article on Vlad has a some that sounds like what I remember. Definitely an interesting character deserving of a little research.

Lets all teach Magic in science class!
So saying that a primordial soup of umpteen different chemicals somehow came together spontaneously in just the right quantities and conditions, combined with one another with no outside influences, and became a living organism doesn't connote a certain amount of hocus pocus? And then this prototypical living thing, with no outside manipulation developed — again, with no outside influence — over billions and billions of years into life as we know it today, consisting of compositions of such complexity that the best of modern science is still scratching its head? And that isn't magic?
I'm sure the "fundies" on the linked site do say some goofy things (dead link right now; server error), but you've got to admit that when you look at the so-called scientific explanations of the origins of life and the universe, it sounds just as goofy, and a lot of it just doesn't add up.
And Dale, it's not the self-righteous ignorance of religious people that sparked the holocaust. Check your history books. People like you that overreact to what you don't agree with is what scares the crap outta me. Next thing you know, people like you will be trying to muzzle people like me and tell me what we can and can't say... Oh, wait a minute; that's already happening!
I have a prediction: Before all is said and done, Alex will be a born-again, Bible-believing Christian. We're praying for you, brother! ;o)

There was a guy on Jerry Springer a while back who cut off his own legs with a circular saw (no I don't watch regularly; one of those fall-asleep-in-the-recliner-&-wake-to-late-nite-weirdness things). He said his legs didn't belong there, so he cut them off. He's also a transvestite. And very, very, very strange.

Oh, come on, VonSkippy; that stereotype was old and tired years ago. Macs are no more pretentious than Dells these days. And yes, you can easily spend that much on a Dell.
Oh, and Alex; the two-button mouse has been supported natively on Macs since OS 10.1 (2001), and would work way before that with drivers installed.

I did this also, and if you add the server software, the fibre channel card, and a maxed-out Xserve RAID box, you can easily push the price up near $40,000.
Reminds me in a way of the old days; I started working in the graphics department of a printing company back in 1992, and the first machine I was assigned to was an early Mac clone, the mighty 68000 dash 30fx. It was basically a hopped-up IIfx in an industrial-strength steel case. The machine was several years old when I got to it, but I was told it had originally cost around $40,000 (that was with the 19" monitor, graphics card, flatbed scanner, and a whopping 96(?)MB of RAM). In its day, it was the fastest thing going, and was worth the money. Now? I got it for free so the guy who now has my job at that company wouldn't have to pay to have the recycler take it.
And it still works!

Cassie's drinking game is great! Reminds me of the old days, playing "Hi Bob!" while watching the Bob Newhart Show; every time someone says "Hi Bob!" everyone takes a swig.
I was pretty much a Lost devotee through the second season, but totally lost (no pun intended) interest in the third. Things were weird the first two seasons, but they got downright bizarre in the third, then went downhill from there. I'll likely watch a few episodes this season to see what's up, but after seeing the teasers I don't hold out much hope for the show.

That title is the greatest (and yes, ryan; we know. It's just a joke). And surprisingly darwinwaitspatiently.com hasn't been nabbed yet. Yet.

Is there a comment of the day on Neato? If so, I nominate VonSkippy!
If not, why not? While we're at it, maybe a boneheaded comment of the day award too?

Prevention is the best medicine.
While that may be too late for some on the first morning of the year (you do have my sympathy!) think about it next time. It is possible to have a good time and enjoy a drink or two without getting totally blasted.

Sorry, but the link to the page about this rig has changed for some odd reason (and I have no idea how to fix it!) Here is the new one.

I've never watched Moonraker on Boxing Day either. Am I missing something?
