I feel sorry for the printing press dude. I would have thought that by 1867 they'd know that a crushed leg is pretty much toast. Maybe he would have survived if they hadn't waited a week to do something! Ouch.
I'm sure there are starving people around the world who would be more than grateful for 3000 calories a day. Heck, that could last some people two days!
"These statistics do not include mowing the lawn, fixing the broken garbage disposal, painting, or building a deck."
Three of those are one-off chores. You maybe do them once a year (or less). If you count daily and weekly tasks like laundry, dishes, vacuuming, dusting, cooking... Well, you can see how that would add up a lot more quickly.
And maybe I live in a weird neighbourhood, but the people pushing the lawnmowers are mostly women...
What a bunch of prudes. I think it's a nice photo.
The people who have problems with it are probably the same people who would like to paint fig leaves over all the nude paintings of the old masters. And this isn't even a nude!
My watch doesn't tell time anymore. The battery is dead. But, like this watch, it can also tell if it's day or night. If I can see the dial, it's day. If I can't, it's night. And I didn't have to pay $300,000 for it!
"there is no public drunkenness in polite America, simply none"
Give me a break. I'm not sure which is more absurd... the part about an absence of public drunkenness or the "polite America" part.
Legal gun owners may not be a problem in most cases. However, how many people are there like the Virginia Tech shooter who have never been diagnosed as mentally unstable (but who actually are) and who go and purchase guns? Yes, I know they knew he was unbalanced, but he still managed to purchase guns. Unless you can patch up all such cracks in the system, there remains a danger.
Why, when people start talking about human population, the first response is always, "So go kill yourself!" The easier solution would be to have fewer babies, but that gets the religious knickers in a knot, I guess.
As far as the original topic goes, I wouldn't eat seal meat or wear seal fur. I don't want to deprive people of a way to make a living, either. I just wish they would use more humane methods. In this day and age, there's really no excuse for skinning a seal while it's still alive.
Once might be funny. But to see it everywhere (and to have your friends keep rubbing it in) must be tiring. I can see their point. The people who can't are probably the same people who would enjoy this kind of movie.
She's more than twice his age... and more than twice as smart. This guy would probably keep touching a hot stove if he thought there was something to be gained from it.

So it took me longer to holster my gun for an unarmed black man. But I was more quick to shoot the white guys with the guns!
I was looking for the gun rather than skin colour, anyway.
