I'm glad this is being cleared up. The whole left vs. right brain thing is a ridiculous pop psychology claim with no basis in research or fact. Even if there was such a thing, how on earth would the direction that you perceive the lady to be rotating be able to offer any indication of whether you are right or left brained?

I see a face in profile on the right side. Considering all the different things various people are reporting, this claim could well be a product of human pattern seeking.

I remember reading some interesting studies about kids with androgen insensitivity syndrome (genetic males with the outwards appearance of females including female external sexual organs). This condition is often not picked up on until later in life so as far as the child and parents know, they are girls. Measures of self report have shown that individuals with this condition had a far greater tendency to play with typically male toys (trucks etc...)than female toys (much more often that the typical female population). This also suggested that toy preference is not just a result of gender typing, but that there is a more biological basis.

Considering how increasingly common it is to have a college education (both in the US and in Australia where I live) and how competitive it is to get a good job, it's almost become a prerequisite not only to have undergraduate, but also graduate degrees in order stand out enough to even be considered for certain jobs, even though such degrees aren't necessarily required to perform the job - particularly in the business world. There are many industries where if you do not have a college education or even a graduate degree (even though it is not a necessary requirement), you won't even be considered for the job.

I'm just entering my 7th (and hopefully final) year of college next year, but at least I can feel satisfied that in my particular field, the things I've learned in my degrees are certainly necessary to do the job.

I would feel even more satisfied however if my college had slides like this.

I did follow the link, and they actually didn't discuss birth order. They spoke about how the different ages of siblings effects the timing through which they experience events such as divorce, which may result in differing impacts of these events on children's personalities e.g. a divorce may affect a 5-year old very differently compared to a 10-year old.

This is not quite the same thing as birth order. Birth order is not just about the differing ages of children impacting their experiences, but rather how they stand relative to their siblings in the order of their births, and how this affects the family dynamic.

Obviously birth order does not determine personality, but it can certainly influence it.

This is a complicated issue, and it is likely that all the points they mentioned and more contribute towards the cause of differing personalities in siblings.

I am the youngest of 6 and I can say that everyone in my family has totally different personalities.

I wonder how this fits in with Zakat, the 4th of the 5 pillars of Islamic faith?

Wiki-
"Zak?t or alms-giving is the practice of charitable giving by Muslims based on accumulated wealth, and is obligatory for all who are able to do so. It is considered to be a personal responsibility for Muslims to ease economic hardship for others and eliminate inequality."
