@Gordon: I have had plenty of conversations with her and can't agree with your opinion. Then again, as a long-time friend of hers I might be a bit biased.
Arrogant? Sure. Pretentious? Nah...
I do agree though, this somehow doesn't fit Neatorama.
It apparently can't fly, it almost can't walk. Not sure if it can see through the thicket of... err... fluff feathers? Cute or not: it should not be bred. Poor little guy.
@Scooter: pot grew (and grows) all over the world. It would be kinda odd if it stemmed from America, seeing Europeans were already twirling ropes from it before an "America" even existed.
How come the world admires people (in this case children), that have been financially successul, instead of those who have been successful in a humanitarian way (of who no one reports)?
Why does it always have to be money? I agree with the idea of motivating schoolchildren and students, but does it need to be a typical manifestation of our (obviously flawed) capitalistic system?
[x] JM and SP. Not my choice, but I have a hunch they'll get the prize, if for nothing else because Obama can't say what he means with "We can do it". Do what?
I wholeheartedly agree with the article. It's our belief that we are above animal intelligence that removes us more and more from our intrinsic, natural abilities of pattern recognition.
@Noelegy: I agree with that, too, though. The 4 black cats I have had thus far have been most wonderful and, if anything, brought me luck.
I don't personally believe food is lacking in large cities, even for homeless people. While I was living in New York City, I noticed quite a few times that homeless people would get food from delis at closing time (Mama Joy's on Broadway gave away entire subs - quasi fresh ones, that is, that would normally run for 5$). Plus, just think of all the food thrown away by restauranteurs and what not.
I like the idea, though. That way homeless people won't have to dig through the trash. Guess that saves some of their dignity.
If you enjoy light reading, particularly for the summer, just to kinda "drift away", I'd recommend "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach (yaya). Really depends what you like, though. I loved Guevara's "Motorcycle Diaries" one Summer, "Lady Chaterly's Lover" the next, know what I mean? ;)

The article mentions the larger of the objects to be 17 cm (6.7") in diameter.
I had almost forgotten Wild Bill's Nostalgia... :D

The steak apparently comes with fries... and... a half tomatoe? O.o
