Plasmator,

I'm glad your story turned out well, but you are lying about your IQ. If you really did have an IQ have 160, you would be at the level of Einstein or Goethe, which I doubt you are. If you actually had that IQ, you would have risen above the system and gone on to solve the world's problems.Instead, you are ranting on Neatorama. Shove it.

Wow, some of the people on this site are ridiculous. I'm not sure what I said that came off as disingenuous, perhaps some of you can shed some light on this?

I understand I don't have to read this blog, in fact, I would save a lot of time if I didn't, but a few months back, Alex asked the community what we thought would make the site better, a clear invitation to make suggestions for improvement of the blog, and now some of us are making them.

Brayden,

I think the drive to rename it after George Bush is funny, but does the post mesh with the usual tone of Neatorama posts? I don't think so, so I merely expressed that and tried to give a more tempered approach to topic since many of the people who didn't like the post merely ranted like crazy people.

But if you don't like our comments, skip them, no one is making you click the comment section of the story, you went here on your own.

Adam,

I was only offering a suggestion, I really don't care that much what you post on here because, as you said, I can just skip those posts. Don't you think it's rude to be so combative with your readers, especially as I was trying to be polite, yet you label me as disingenuous. Before I felt like Neatorama was a place where suggestions would be looked at and treated with respect, rather than spat on by the contributors.

So go ahead, keeping posting things that create division and separate us, you have the power to post whatever you want,so do it, but just be aware that perhaps your combative posts, whether you mean to or not, might be alienating a large number of your readers and if you end up writing a blog that no one reads, all your doing is masturbating.

AdamStanhope,

You might want to listen to some of the people commenting instead of just bashing them and telling them to grow up. Many of us come to this blog for something different than politics, which we are barraged with all the time. People would feel the same way if you posted something similar about Obama or anyone of any political affiliation. Many of us are just flat-out tired of ANYTHING political and political posts on Neatorama just strike me as unnecessary and you are only poster who puts them up, so why not just avoid them? Also, the way you wrote the post was confrontational when you called the naming of the sewage plant after George Bush "fitting." While I agree that Bush has been a real crapper as president and needs to be flushed out ASAP, why not just keep political stuff off of Neatorama and let us look at funny videos and strange historical facts in peace?

I'm just trying to make two points-

1. The staff should have handled this better(as should have the mother).

2. People on this board(Bean in particular) seem to have a callous view on autism, saying its a "pop-culture diagnosis" when it reality, its a really disabling disorder.

Yes, ultimately, the kid should have been removed off the plane, but they should have been moved to a later flight after the child had calmed down.

@Jennifer

I'm not being overly dramatic, I've run into this mentality in public when working with kids with disabilities and people here claiming she should just "control" her kid in the same fashion parents control normal kids, which isn't the correct protocol at all. It sounds like the airline crew got into the kids face, overloading his senses even more. We as a society are judged by how we treat our less capable. I agree safety measures need to be followed, but it just sounds like the airline staff was incompetent and not trained to deal with this situation.

We see these things because the human eye and brain are trained to pick out faces and other human like body parts, its evolutionary. People see faces in houses all the time or perhaps they see a face in their coffee. No aliens!

I'm from Iowa, so I can tell you a major factor in the rise of the price of food, especially corn- the reason is corn ethanol. It's terribly inefficient and raises the price of all food, but my state's senators, Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley, and my representative Steve King, keep voting for corn and ethanol subsidies and block any attempts to switch to sugar and switchgrass ethanol, both of which are better bio-fuels.

Politics. Yuk.

Wow, I am just shocked at the amount of ignorance on these boards. Autistic kids, especially severe and profound cases, have a completely different sensory system then you or I. They cannot help these meltdowns. I work with a particularly large 15 year old non-verbal autistic boy, and many times he becomes overloaded to the point that he physically assaults and once bit through a remote control. Does this mean I shouldn't work with him anymore? That I should just tell the mom to keep him home and shrink the quality of his life because of a disorder he didn't ask for? If the crew had just been patient and waited for some medication to kick in(which I am assuming the mother dispensed) it would have been fine, but it sounds like they tried to treat him like a normal two-year old, which anyone who has been around someone with autism can tell you, is something you should not do, they are very different.

Hey Bean, sorry I had a typo of forgetting a zero...anyway, Alexander the Great was king of Macedonia at age 20, young people can do great things. It's the old bastards on here putting him down that make we young people so apathetic towards politics. Why don't we let him take office and do some things first before we judge him?

What is with all the old people here dissing on this kid? I think it is great what he is doing. Besides, with a town this size, it would be very possible to be mayor and a full-time student. I live in a town over 80,000 and our mayor has a full time job, so what is the difference? This town is less than 4000!
