Prime Directive... I was just thinking as I read this that we really need a way to hide ourselves like in Star Trek so we could observe. Someday...

Alan, I also wonder that because there are many instances in human history where plural marriage is recognized as legitimate. It is only a matter of time until someone uses these SCOTUS decisions as justification to recognize plural marriage in the United States. There are also cultures where marriage to children as young as 12 is deemed acceptable. Will there also be those in the U.S. who push for recognition of unions of this sort as well?

Sorry, that did slip by to me. Thanks for pointing out the flaw in my reasoning.

Why couldn't the solution be Mr. Red wearing blue, Mr. White wearing red and Mr. Blue wearing white?

This reminds me of many years ago when I was in the military. A friend of mine came over to the apartment my wife and I had to watch football on Sunday. He brought over a frozen burrito to cook to eat later while watching the game. We were enjoying a few (ahem!) beers while in front of the TV when he put the burrito in the oven to heat. A week later my wife went to cook something in the oven and discovered that my friend had put the burrito in there but never turned on the oven and forgot that it was even there!

The photo for "The Hogan Family" in the quiz is bogus. The picture includes Valerie Harper. While she was the star of the show, the show was titled "Valerie". When she left and was replaced by Sandy Duncan it was retitled "The Hogan Family".

This concept that A&F propagates that only skinny girls are beautiful is why there are so many young women with eating disorders. They will destroy their physical health to try to attain this "ideal" image of beauty.

Yeah Jelchs, Americans choose not to because they aren't willing to do it for the three bucks and hour that the farmers are paying the illegal migrant workers. The farmers are all for immigrant labor because its all under the table: no taxes, no workers compensation insurance or unemployment insurance, no OSHA, none of that. If the farmers had to follow the rules like most employers did, meaning at least the required minimum wage, proper working conditions and all, you would have plenty of American citizens who would do this work.

The text from the product website states, "The intentionally provocative project brings up some challenging questions: when do everyday items become criminalized, and when do our governments have the right to restrict the use of certain objects based solely on their potential to one day be used in a crime?"
There are already laws on the books that criminalize possession of a certain amount of household substances used in the manufacture of meth.
As for Nick's comments about items becoming "illegal when you can blind people with what you make in them", the reason that stills are illegal is a revenue issue, not a health issue. This goes all the way back to George Washington using the military to put down the Whiskey Rebellion. The revolt was started by people who did not believe the government should be able to tax alcohol production. Even today, moonshiners are pursued by "revenuers", agents of the Department of Treasury.
