I had read that the sequel to Forrest Gump wasn't made because the author of the book, Winston Groom, would not sign a deal because his deal on the first movie was for 3% of the "accounting profit", and by Hollywood accounting practices, Forrest Gump actually lost money, so Groom made exactly $0 on it and therefore was not going to sign over the rights to his second Gump book.

I just heat the stick of butter in the microwave for 12-13 seconds and it is soft enough to slice and spread without damaging the toast. However, this is COOL! I went to the first link and it's in Japanese, but here's what Google translate gave me:

"It's beautiful to paint in uniform thickness on the surface of the toast the butter just out of the refrigerator, it is difficult. The author's unconcerned at all in other things, but it's a multi-valued as punctual, and want to paint a butter carefully evenly every nook and cranny in the toast first thing in the morning of the day of bread. At that time, the solidified butter and cold just out of the refrigerator's worst. Winter morning in the head, in the room only for a while put the heating, cut the block with a knife butter was removed from the refrigerator, even if I drop on the surface of freshly baked toast just taken out of the toaster and sleepy and cold even just, not even sign it begins to melt. After all, it's usual pattern or a little butter chop block, and pressed with a knife,'s smeared by force while taking rubbing the surface of crisp delicious clean burnt brown toast. To introduce today "Easy butter" excellent one gives a revolution in such a life, but (Easy Butter)."

I loved WKRP and I scored 100% on the quiz! I met Gordon Jump (aka Arthur Carlson) twice in my life as I worked for Maytag and he spent the latter portion of his career as Ol' Lonely, the Maytag Repairman. He told me that even though he was appearing at various corporate functions as his repairman persona, the most frequent question he was asked was to quote that famous line, "As God as my witness I thought turkeys could fly."

I had a friend in the military years ago that had done a tour in Australia. He was out in a club one night soon after he arrived and was trying to meet some ladies. He couldn't understand their reactions when he would introduce himself until someone explained why he should use his proper name "Randall" in his introductions instead of his nickname "Randy"!

Those are the stores I refuse to patronize. I can't stand being made to feel like a criminal just because I am carrying merchandise out of the store. It's bad enough when a cashier doesn't manage to demagnetize the EM tag in something I buy and the alarm goes off when I walk out the door.
