JBSpesh,
Have you never met a person who believed the stuff they saw in the movies were real? There is a TV show called Mythbusters. They constantly test various situations from movies to determine if they could actually work in the real world. For instance, I have known plenty of people who believed that you could cause a car to explode by shooting it. I have known plenty of people who believed that a car could drive thru all kinds of obstructions such as fences and fruit stands and not suffer any damage at all. I have known plenty of people who believe that a few grains of sodium in a gelcap is enough to blow a hole thru a wall. Mythbusters have tested these and lots of other movie myths and shown that they are not possible in real life.

When it comes to legal matters, there are tons more situations that are portrayed that are not real. For instance, I have known people who believe that if a police officer forgets to read Miranda rights then all charges have to be dropped against the person. I have known people who believed that you can legally drive like a maniac if the purpose of the drive is to get a person to the hospital. I have known people who believe that if they wanted to kill someone, all they have to do is trick the person into breaking into their home somehow. I know people who believe that all you need to get a conviction against a person is to trick the person into admitting something they knew that only the criminal would have known (so many Columbo episodes rely on this one).

It is a very good exercise to point out flaws like these in movies. You can actually surprise people with reality sometimes. There are things that are shown over and over in movies that people have begun to accept them as reality. Even if it is something shown in only one movie, pointing the problems with physics, legality, or safety is a good exercise. People seeing articles like these may start to think about other things they saw in movies that are not also in reality.

I doubt that this will work. Even if the guy puts it out there he would be in trouble the first time a sweaty kid falls down on that pavement and gets shocked. Also, if a business in my town did that I know a few guys who would be at his place every night playing with it. At the very least they would pour salt water on it every night to get this guys electric bill to triple.

Bob Pinciotti: Oh. Oh! And hit him with a banjo!

Red: [pauses and stares at Bob] A banjo, Bob?

Bob Pinciotti: What? I'm helping!

Red: Where's he gonna get a banjo?

Bob Pinciotti: I don't know! But I saw a guy get hit with a banjo once, and he went down.

Red: [pauses and stares at Bob again] Hitting a guy with a banjo, is dirty.

I know a place in Texas with a low bridge like this. About 100 feet before the bridge in either direction there is a series of metal tubes strung from a line. If you can pass under them then you have plenty of clearance. If you do not then you had better stop and find another way. A pretty cheap way to warn drivers.

So the frog made a lot of noise. I can just imagine how it sent. The biologist is walking thru the jungle and all of a sudden he hears:

Hello My Baby
Hello My Darling
Hellow My Ratime gal

Well, I can see people above me have pointed out some major flaws with this idea.

The biggest one I can think if is when someone steps into one of these without knowing it was there. Break a leg, crack open a skull.

One I am thinking of is you are sitting in one of these, one foot in each hole. You have a bad itch on one foot. How do you discretely scratch that foot?

This reminds me of Rome where people would hire professional mourners for funerals. They would follow the funeral procession and cry and scream in anguish. The best mourners were the ones who could put on the best show. It got to the point to where Rome had to ban the practice. It just got too crazy.

If I were a rich man (and crazy...or crazier) I would hire protestors to march for some of the goofiest reasons. Heck. I might hire some to picket the union headquarters for not making the protesters part of the union. Spend a few thousand dollars, get some money into hands of people who need it, and make a crazy statement. That is how life ought to be.

On #2, why did you avoid discussing the 4 legged flying critters? Those do not exist. The flying creatures that exist are 2 legged or 6 legged. The best you can do is pull a couple of legs off of an insect or wait for a birth defect in something from the 2 legged variety.

Something I find interesting, is that a lot of people will say these laws no longer apply because they are in the OT. However, I have never really seen anyone provide the part of the NT that says to ignore the OT or to not follow specific laws from the OT.

Bats are also a way to control mosquitos. There is some debate on how effective they are. Some people do not care how effective they are and do not want bats around under any circumstances. Some people have put up bat houses to attract bats.

Ok, so lets say this is put in place. According to Google search 8% of males are color blind and .5% of females are color blind. Most of these people have learned to use the existing lights. A few may have problems. After the switch, a percentage of those color blind people will benefit. There will be some who have learned how to interpret the light who will be confused. What is worse, the 92% of males and 99.5% of females who are not color blind and are used to the colors will be confused because they use the colors to work with. In the end, there will be more problems because of this fix. Sure, in 50 years after everyone relearns or is taught differently it will work out nicely. In the meantime this will end up with more confusion on the roads. I am more in favor of doing research to put computers in charge of the driving and remove the human component completely. We could be there in a couple of decades if we started working now. This solution fixes tons of problems including color blind and lights.

I took a theatre class in college. The instructor was talking about how many plays try to portray realistic stuff on stage. He said he went to one where the play called for the actors to be smoking pot. They lit up and a few minutes later he caught the smell and he swore up and down that it was the real thing. He suspiciously avoided the question about how he had the qualifications to make that determination from just smell alone but oh well. He said he talked to the person who put on the play and asked about it. The person then gave him a recipe. It was a combination of herbs and spices but the major ingredients were oregano and catnip. When burned together he said that they smelled like pot.

Another trick we talked about was taking beer cans and cutting them up and applying them to full soda cans so the actors can actually appear to be opening up beer on stage. Quite sneaky, those theatre folk.

Ok, if I find a cell phone in a bar and I keep it and sell it then I am in trouble for that was not my phone to sell. I would be in trouble with the police.

If I met someone who tells me they found a phone left in a bar and I buy that phone from them then I would be in trouble with the police.

Why is Apple not pressing charges (it must be their property if it was a development model)?

Could all of this be a publicity stunt?
