Well trained dogs? If I had called the name of one of my dogs from another room, with even a hint in my tone that there was a snack being offered, all three would have shown up regardless of whose name I used. These are like little actors waiting off stage for their cues, and then hitting their marks.
I first saw Peter Dinklage in a film titled, 'The Station Agent' (2003). It included Patricia Clarkson and it was quite good. I've looked forward to seeing what he could do with a role ever since. He's never disappointed me.
This winter I was in a restaurant, where I watched a guy eat. His chin was about four inches up from the tabletop. His left hand was extended out and around his plate, holding his phone so he could read it, and with his right he was shoveling food in his mouth. Five minutes later a woman joined him at the table and proceeded to consume her lunch in the same manner. They didn't talk to each other, or even make eye contact that I could see. Sitting alone often to eat a meal is sometimes depressing. Watching those two eat made it a little worse.
Her self-portraits are interesting. What she seemed to convey in every photo is her role as a 'watcher'. There's no expression on her face except attentiveness, and she chose a camera she holds low on her body, so that it didn't get between her and her subject. The photographer and the subject would then be equally exposed to each other's curiosity.
With what little I know of Malcolm X, and that photo of him, it would seem the anger, determination and sense of purpose never left his facial expression. It's in his eyes.
'You should have been cut from the list... I knew we were gunna get a bag of peanuts. I was right.' The embodiment of the attitude right there.
