He'll need it. The shear number of genes he needs to sort through alone if it's a single-gene error is mind-boggling, let alone if it's a polygenetic result (Not very likely). And I'm not sure that 1 billion gene database has all the non-disease variations in it.

Even when he finds it, solving it would take years of research to either A: Replace the faulty gene, or B: Artificially supply the missing factors.

Still I wish him the best, if there anything people are good at it's long shots

This is sickening. Does buying something first matter more than someone's life? Apparently for these people getting an early Christmas present or a bargain matter much more.

Something has to be done to prevent this from happening again.

Auto-Door openers, discourage morning rushes, something.

Honesty I've only read the article so far, and I'm already tearing up. I hope that this will continue. Good should never be interred when some one dies. It should live on and grow continuously.

Thank you Brenden, for being willing to inspire us to bring out our best.

I got 90.81%, I didn't find it that hard, but I have been studying it recently. It's sad how much of this basic civic knowledge our elected officials don't bother to know.

Amazing, simply amazing. I was watching the results trickle in all night, and soon it dawned on that he really won. It was amazing, for a short while it looked like Obama would take Texas for example, just watching how people everywhere turned out for this election in record numbers is something everyone should feel proud of.

Both candidates were very humble in their final speeches, I only wish the entire campaign could have been carried out with that decorum. Both of them asking to heal the rifts of the election and work together for a better tomorrow.

I'm proud this was my first I could vote in.

Yes we can indeed.

Geesh, what horror at living reasonably, no longer able to buy what ever strikes your fancy and living high above everyone else. And here I thought a strong work ethic was the proclaimed reason they were rich, not fool's luck.

I've always wondered why no one ever seems to sincerely believe that economies will go down or crash eventually. It doesn't take much of a look over history to notice that little pattern.

Heh, my brother used to go dressed up as an auditor for Halloween. Forget about ghosts and zombies, a small guy wearing a suit and tie with a tag saying IRS auditor is what really scares people.

The thing that doesn't make sense to me are these two parts:

"Then, the medical examiner testified, Anguiano was shot in the back at close range."

and

"Gonzalez said he thought Anguiano was lunging at him when he fired the shotgun."

Ok, I understand that under stress things get hazy and otherwise innocent actions can be misinterpreted, but I can't see how you can shoot someone in the back while they are lunging towards you.

I disagree with his vigilantism in the end it was still a murder, justifiable in the eyes of the law yes, but it was still an act of murder. The kids broke in, but he forced them to surrender then shot them. Regardless of how much easier killing them there it is it doesn't make it right.

Personally, I see this as fairly natural outgrowth of the increase in technological complexity. We rely on more intricate and delicate components, such as transistors, microchips, and computer wielded components, to build our current machines and tools, than even fifty let alone a hundred years ago.

As we started to use more advanced technology knowledge of the simpler forms (such as wood carving or steam engines) become less and less useful for the lay person to know. I'm unlikely to need those skills as apposed to the less DIY skills of programming, and webpage designing. We learn what we need to in order to manage day to day rather than yesterday.

Personal machinery maintenance might be down true, and perhaps picking up that would be good, but the ability to make something from scratch isn't really.

The tools and equipment needed to produce average products, require factories and highly specialized machinery unavailable to the average person, then there is the training to use it. So you're left with either building the entire system all over to make sure it interacts well or giving up and buying a replacement.

Growing specialization of tasks and roles makes us less knowledgeable about everything but our primary role of which we will do very well and a number of hobbies.

Simply put: technology is too complex for us to understand enough about everything, to be Do it yourselfers.

Evolution has no direction or an end goal, it simply develops an organism best suited for a particular environmental niche. Clams for instance have no central nervous system even you their ancestors did because it was too cost inefficient for their lifestyle.

Having said that, it is an interesting metamorphic effect .
