Thanks, Rence, I've seen that picture before. I don't know who created it, but it's absolutely perfect.

This family is a cult. They've even established their own church.

There's nothing special about them that would justify their unlimited breeding.

I'm sick of the Discovery channels supporting them by putting them on specials on television. In fact, I'm going to go send a few emails regarding that right now. It probably won't mean anything, but it will make me feel better.

Of course, they don't hassle the Governator who is buying brand new cooking oil, contributing to the current food shortage, just the poor guy in Half Moon Bay who is burning oil that would otherwise have to go through a special recycling program that costs the restaurant owner money, but for which the state collects fees. Don't think it's just in California. A lot of states have laws like this. Cooking oil is a huge recycling issue.

The wife had to know. The latest story I read says the basement addition was inspected by local authorities. It has been reported that she and the other children knew it was there, but Fritzl was such an authoritarian that they just obeyed him.

I believe she knew. She knew. She had to know. And she had to know he was abusing their daughter before this. She chose to turn a blind eye. She should be prosecuted.

And the most jail time he can receive is 15 years if convicted? Just wrong. He should get 15 years chained in that basement, in the dark, at the least, with Bubba the Cornholer visiting him every day.

It doesn't matter how old she was, if she didn't give her free consent it was wrong.

The problem in Texas is that many of these children gave their consent, but they have been so conditioned (brainwashed) since birth that obediance is all, that they cannot truly give their free consent.

If the child is of an age to still be in school (K - 12th grade), then the child is too young to be making life decisions, including getting married.

Boondocks is most definitely not barf. Any other cartoons with Samuel L. Jackson voicing a character? Didn't think so.

For non-adult swim: Rocko's Modern Life.

A few years ago, on one of those shows, Maury, probably, they had an American child like that. It turned out it was a growth thing where the child grew very fast at an early age, then would stop growing earlier in life. It was likely that the child would actually end up shorter than average, since his growth would stop in his early teens, instead of continuing into his late teens or early twenties.

If the child is only breastfeeding, it seems unlikely that he could be overfeeding, although his mother does look very tired!

Sure, why not be autistic? Autistics are regularly killed by their parents and caregivers, subjected to hideous, unfounded treatments and abused by others for their differences. I would leap at the chance to live that way.

Actually, with better studies, neurologists are starting to do diagnoses. There are definite structural differences in the brain and even the skull. The sooner diagnosis and treatment is removed from psychologists and psychiatrists to neurologists the better is will be for these people.

And has been noted above, ASD is a "spectrum" disorder. There is a huge range, from someone with fairly mild Asperger's, who passes fairly easily, to people like Amanda, who cannot function.

One of the main differences between "neurotypicals" and people on the spectrum is that austistics do not have as many mirror cells in the brain. Mirror cells are the cells that cause people to copy other people's behavior. This is what causes the difficulty with social skills, as austistics do not automatically copy the behavior of others, but have to learn social skills, just as they learn to read or do math. It takes them longer, and sometimes the difficulty of it is beyond the those on the far end of the spectrum. However, it also keeps them from devolving into mob behaviors common among neurotypicals, as they don't automatically start doing what everyone else is doing.

Another issue is there seem to be additional difficulties with sounds and lights, that most people are comfortable with, being too loud or bright for them, or causing reactions akin to synesthesia.

Some autistics would like to be normal. Some would not. Some enjoy the differences, and it does have its gifts. Most technical and scientific development would not have occurred without people on the spectrum. It can cause an ability to focus that allows someone to spend years on a problem. It also allows them to approach a problem from a completely different direction.

I don't know Amanda. She has met with medical doctors from different news programs who seem to accept the diagnosis. However, she is not the only non-speaking autistic who is blogging. She is the one who is appearing on these news programs. Check out YouTube. There are plenty of other videos there by other autistics.

The problem with polygamy is that in the countries and cultures where it is practiced, the women do not have a choice. I don't have a problem with individuals choosing multiple partners, as long as the partners are adults, and children are not abused or forced into a certain belief or life. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

The polygamists here in the U.S. regularly rely on welfare to support their families. Sexual abuse, incest, statutory rape, mental and physical abuse, murder and abandonment are part of the life of these polygamist communities.

As "G" mentioned, the boys are often dumped in cities, or simply disappear (there's a lot of empty desert there), at around age 14, as they are competition. There girls are usually married off at that age.

Again, if consenting adults choose to live a non-monogamous relationship, I don't have a problem, but I don't want to have to support your lifestyle, and I certainly am not going to support one that's illegal.

The women under those veils in many countries are often wearing a lot of makeup and dressing very sexily. They have to, their husbands expect them to. The ease with which a man may divorce his wife (and these wealthy men can easily return the dowry), and the fact that the man will keep his children automatically, leaves the burden on the woman to keep the man's interest. Lingerie that would make Frederick's of Hollywood blush is sold in huge amounts in most Islamic countries.

If you read the article, the one wife noted that it was not Islamic, it was tribal. She was correct. It is tribal, just like honor killings.

To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, "Any woman willing to give up freedom for a little security, deserves neither freedom nor security."

Some of this children are self-harming, but most of these children are not. They are placed in this school because they are autistic, or have other issues, and the parents just do not want them around. The idea is that they can be forced by abusive treatment to behave "normally" and made to fit in.

Not one single child has ever been cured. Not one. The school is evil. It should be shut down, but only after every parent and employee has undergone treatment there. Then every one of those parents and employees should go to jail.

If a parent did that kind of thing directly to their child they would go to jail. However, society seems to believe that it is okay to abuse or kill a child that isn't normal. Parents who abuse and/or kill their disabled children are often given light sentences or even not prosecuted. This is often the same treatment given to care givers of the disabled.

In other words, if you're different, you're not only worthless, but you're also less than an animal.
