Watch out for tilted headstones: they mean that something is stirring beneath them.

A commenter noted at the article site that there is yarn made from milk. They are making yarns from all manner of plants and foodstuffs, including soy, bamboo (which washes beautifully, the fibers becoming softer over time) and corn. There's a show that's in reruns on either HGTV or DIY called Knitty Gritty. They had an entire episode dedicated to new types of yarns, along with the recommended needles and uses. I knit casually, but even I found it really interesting.

I love you, Alex, but my money's on Thag.
The question should be: would a physically fit and trained modern human be able to defeat a Neanderthal?

I'm finding it highly resistable.

Season 3 is the last season for Community. Whatever shows up as Community season 4 is going to be a pile of pasteurized pap.

I agree with you. Linda was right for getting out, and I hope she doesn't buy his apology.

I'll never be able to look at Pac-Man the same way again.

Having had a 100+ lb. dog slam into the back of my seat when I had to hit the brakes, I vote yes. At the time, I'm not sure doggie seatbelts were even available (almost 30 years ago). He was usually a well-behaved dog (former show dog, used to traveling), but he was excitable that day and would not lie down, despite being told to several times. Well, he would lie down, then pop back up.
I will say that, after the incident, if I told him to lie down, he dropped like a stone and stayed down.

I heard that In n Out has discontinued the unlimited cheeseburgers, and the 100x100 is just a memory.

But that's why a lot of women don't read the comics. Then the publishers bitch that they have to market to the virginal nerds inhabiting their mothers' basements because other people, i.e., women, don't buy them. If they're going to pander to a certain market, then they're welcome to pander, but don't complain because your audience isn't growing.

And then they complain that women don't read superhero comics. Well, duh. This cover is just a tiny drop in the ocean of over-sexualization and misogyny that has pervaded these comics.
I quit reading comics decades ago because I grew tired of how women and girls were presented. I started reading comics again several years ago, but I don't even go into the superhero section.

When I was growing up, we moved out to the country. We had a half-acre garden, chickens for eggs, rabbits and a heifer a year for meat, and well water. I had perfect skin and no weight problems.
We then moved to the desert, to an area with water even the FDA had problems with and started buying all of our food in stores, and this was before some of the more extreme factory farming was involved. I gained weight, my skin broke out, and nothing tasted good. I moved away a few years later, but to the suburbs and the continued factory farmed food.
The last year or so I've made a point of buying a lot of organic food, and we've lost weight, and our skin has gotten better. We've noticed that the food tastes a lot better, but we find ourselves eating less. We don't graze all day.
The hormones and antibiotics that they feed to factory animals stays in the meat. You have to have a prescription for hormones and antibiotics, but the FDA lets it through in your food.

I actually like a lot of them, especially the duct tape ones. It's prom, do it your way.

The problem in California is that if you don't have any violations or accidents on your record since your last license was issued, you can renew by mail or online, so no one can physically check your physical or mental condition. Doctors can recommend to the DMV that a license be revoked, but many of them don't even seem to think about it, or sympathize with their patients.
An 84-year old woman ran over my son in the crosswalk in front of his school not quite two years ago. Her license was valid and up to date. However, she hadn't driven in years, deferring to her husband, but his recent death had caused her to start driving again. The most horrifying thing I read in the police report was that the driver said she saw the car stopped at the crosswalk in the other direction and my son in the crosswalk, but she just kept going.
My son was very lucky. He was caught by the car and one leg was actually driven over, but nothing was broken. He has a couple of small, ugly scars. A smaller child might not have survived so well.
It also made me extremely angry because my own grandmother quit driving when she felt it was no longer safe. She did it in stages: first, she stopped driving on freeways; next, she stopped driving on highways (she lived in a mostly rural area) with higher speed limits; lastly, she quit driving at all, not even around the small town in which she lived. She stopped over ten years before she died, although her vision was excellent and her reflexes fairly good.

Rakoczy had couponing OCD, which seems to befall a lot of extreme couponers: they buy stuff because they have a coupon, not because they need it.
I do coupon (I started because of watching Extreme Couponing, so I have to give them credit), and I use a couple of sites to help me match coupons with sales to get the best deals. I've stocked up on certain items (personal care coupons are the most common coupons that you get that you can mix with sales), and by saving on those items I have more money to put toward other things. I buy a lot of organic, mostly at Costco, and I have the extra money to do it now.
Also, I can now wait for a good sale, because I will buy multiples of an item on sale, instead of just one or two, and it will last until the next sale. (No, I do not clear shelves; that's rude and selfish.)
I'm a single mom with a full time job and a commute, so I don't have time to spend physically shopping for the best deal. I plan ahead and limit browsing, as browsing tends to lead to a cart of stuff I didn't plan to get, and probably don't need.
