It seems to me the whole shrill discourse about global warming is a well funded attempt by oil companies to keep their pockets lined. It's common sense to move away from polluting fossil fuels and toward renewable sources. At the same time, making vehicles, energy production and hvac more efficient and cleaner is a no-brainer. Whether climate change is man-made or not is pretty much beside the point here.

Like the stealth funding of the tea-party, follow the money. Don't vote against your own best interests.

I actually got soup from the shop that skit was inspired by...mid-town manhattan in the 90s...so not imaginary although the reality was a bit more prosaic as reality tends to be

i agree with nihil...eliminate all the bacteria...what could possibly go wrong?

gut bacteria are symbiotic with the human body...my guess is the mouth is just like the rest of the digestive tract and a complete lack of bacteria would be a very bad thing indeed if for no other reason than it would be an ideal growing medium for something really nasty that is currently being kept from growing by the other, benign bacteria

My guess is had they actually carried through with the plan, there would have been massive, nasty reprisals against the civilian population after a couple of these were used.

I wonder how many climate-deniers realize they've been duped by a well financed disinformation campaign on the part of the oil industry...you need only weigh the two possible conspiracies...a) the entire world's climate scientist population have all decided (independently) to pull off a giant hoax for unknown reasons or b) the energy industry, which has a huge economic incentive to prevent government regulations that promote non-fossil fuel use, has sponsored a propaganda campaign similar to the one the tobacco companies used to keep people addicted to nicotine...right vs left aside, really people which one do you figure is the more likely?

My feeling is, so what if cancer patients DO get high and enjoy the high...I'll never understand why some people are so opposed to enjoying a recreational drug. Life is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. Enjoy it as best you can because your time here is limited.

I grew up in New York and after living in various other parts of the country and relocating to PA, I can say authoritatively that New Yorkers are probably the least pleasant group of people (as a group) on the planet with the possible exception of Parisians.

I went thru a similar transformation in my life...I was a gun-totin' NRA-member eagle-scout me-first conservative and eventually evolved thru life experience into a hopefully compassionate liberal...

It's pretty much always the story with companies that are dominated by middle management. When you have empty suits with no skills other than an MBA on the wall, you get lousy management dominated by little fiefdoms that are more about the ego of the suit that heads them up than trying to improve the enterprise.
