@ted OK and where's your evidence that fish and chips isn't particularly healthy? Oh that's right, you have none. You're just basing it on the assumption that fried food is bad. Sorry, there's little evidence to support that. Just so long as the fat is shaken off afterwards there is very little fat content in fish and chips.
Trouble is there are so many superior types out there who don't need evidence. Just like they *know* coffee is bad for you even though they can find no reliable medical evidence to support their knowledge.
@RyanS just because van Gogh had little impact upon you doesn't mean he had little impact on others. He is acknowledges as probably the most influential single artist of all time, and you don't get a much bigger impact than that. If you can't see beyond the pretty colours then I pity you, but don't tar us all with the same brush.
In answer to the question of what van Gogh would think, well I'm sure he'd be flattered. But since he was very much an originator I doubt he'd be impressed by the work. I'm sure he would rather that people were inspired by his work to create something truly original of their own.
While it's amusing within its context (presumably one of those BBC Christmas party vids) it's only got three really good gags. Certainly not as funny as Victoria Wood's original song and I didn't see any credit to her at all on there. Naughty.
There is a serious problem with the author's thought processes. The spot never moves, because the spot is constantly renewing. You see the impact of the light on the moon, but as it moves what you are saying is effectively a very large number of different spots. Just like those pixels on your computer monitor.
Many of the witicisms attributed to Churchill came from Churchill himself. In other words he told them in anecdotes about himself. There is no evidence that he actually said them other than his own testimony. It probably took him hours to think of them.
"do you really think people don't know that fast food is not healthy?"
There is fast food out there that's not healthy and there's fast food out there that is actually pretty good for you. Fish and Chips is a pretty healthy meal all in all.
What bugs me these days is how many people eat burgers and the like and say they know it's not good for them, but it's cheap. This stuff isn't particularly cheap, but it's marketed to appear as if it is.
I have no particular problem with mechanically recovered meat in so far as I don't suppose it's bad for you. However I wouldn't eat it. What bugs me is that burger chains advertise this stuff as "100% steak" and the like. And I do mean burger chains in general. Why is there so much McBashing around? Sure they're not saints, but I don't suppose their food is any worse (or better) than most other burger chains.
@Sandyra again it depends who cooks the english breakfast. Some cook their eggs until the yolks are solid (yuk) others do them sunny side up with runny yolks (the right way). Toms? Always. Mushrooms? Likewise. Baked beans? Often. Fried bread? Wouldn't be breakfast without it. But hash browns? I didn't even know what they were until I was offered them in the US thirty years ago.
As for our bacon. Most of the bacon you get it Britain today has too much salt and too many preservatives and too much water. It tends to come from Holland or Denmark. It's not nice. You can still get proper british bacon though, smoked for preference.
Tea? Please no. Coffee outsells tea in britain and has done for some time. Tea is for the old folks.
Actually it wouldn't work on me anyway. I like raw onion.
