Weird isn't it? Every part of your body is asymetrical. Especially, it seems, your face. So why is it that some people are obsessed with the idea that their teeth should be symmetrical, even and perfect.

Cwm isn't actually pronounced "koom", but I can't figure out a way of spelling it phonetically in English. It's not quite "kum" and it's not quite "koom". Being a Welsh word it isn't really elligible for this list, partly because it's not an english word and partly because w is very definitely a vowel in Welsh.

@c0ldfish Where to start? There are so many errors in your post it's startling.

1. The Olympics are being held in Britain, so it will almost certainly be a Brit that lights the flame.

2. England never had an empire. Ever.

3. Global Unity? Don't make me laugh. It's a contest between professional sportspeople. The highest medal tally goes to the nation that spends the most money on its sporting program. What has that got to do with global unity?

4. The biggest error of them all: David Tennant is not English. And if you don't know why that's such a big issue you really have no clue at all.

I don't think I've ever seen a post based purely on assumption, prejudice and ignorance which was so short and contained so many errors. Well done!

I note some posts here saying only certain small authorities (schools, libraries, etc.) have banned these books and as such this does reflect upon the US authorities as a whole. Sorry, but I'm afraid it does. A nation that allows the banning of books by tin pot local dictatorships is just as bad as one where the central authority bans books.

A steam powered vehicle in 1888? That's hardly innovative is it. Being impressed that a steam powered vehicle existed in 1888 would be somewhat like being impressed that vehicles powered by an otto cycle engine existed in 1928.

yeah so some idiot put the driver's DoB in the offence date field. IMHO he was damned lucky that the police didn't uphold the fine after receiving such a sarcastic letter. They would have been within their rights to send out an amended summons.

And US citizens think they live in the free world?

BTW there is one good reason to ban Harry Potter books. They are so damned derivative, and that's a polite way of putting it.
