What's not mentioned in this blurb of his is that he means the ruling class, Chinese-Singaporean birth rate, not the birth rate of, say, Malay or Indian populations. Racial disharmony not allowed?! Oy. And just for fun, do a search with terms like "Singapore maid abuse" and "Singapore guest worker rights" for another view of the culture.

One of my resolutions this year is to try and not always be the self-centered asshole I generally am. This intention extends to never again being troll-ish, which I was once or twice on this forum and others. Isn't the rule to imagine every written word might be published in the newspaper/read by your mom/reviewed by a potential employer? Oy. I guess I ought to go back to writing in a diary.
I agree with Ken Jinks. Rockwell was never secretive about his use of photos; why should it bring his talent into question? His style isn't for everyone, and at times in my life I have hated it, but the man's skill is undeniable. Most artists use models and many use photos for reference.

It's well documented that the modern plump, red-clad, ho-ho-ho Santa image is based on 20th century Coca-Cola advertisements. Santa is based on northern European saints/concepts, but nowhere else does such a Santa exist.

I get excited every time a new sitcom, or whatever, is announced and then deflate as I see that (once again) every single character is white. I'm white, but my classmates, workmates, and the professionals who teach and treat me are always a mix, no matter where I live in the US.
I have resisted the tattoo surge since it started in earnest in the early 90s, but if it would do any good for endangered species, I'd have my entire epidermis lacerated. Dammit. Of course, we're all probably beyond hope now. first we kill off everything from polar bears to crucial micro-organisms, then we follow.
