What the ever living _-_-_-_ (fill in your own expletive)? This is one of the few sites that I can safely surf the internet where I don't have to read about Harvey or Trump or Pelosi or elections or murders or any of the other CRAP that is happening in the world. This hasn't been a news sight in the past and shouldn't start now. This should be a place that has fun/interesting/unusual/scientific related stories. Sorry, but there is nothing NEATorama about this.
The biggest problem with kids, teens and young adults is no consequences for their actions. Whether it be basic manners or trying to do something beyond their capabilities we have helmeted and padded every sharp edge for them. I'm sure this mother had discussed the basics of please and thank you. When people wonder why, when and where we have gone wrong with "kids these days", we can trace it right back to time outs, trophies for everyone, and convincing kids they are special. Actions have consequences. Good or bad. And let them skin a knee or split a lip. They'll be more careful next time.
Interesting how we write our own back story for this sort of thing. Mine has her frustrated because she had been prompting them to say Thank-You for a while and they still did not do it on their own.
I read 2 Melville stories in jr. high: Bartleby the Scrivener, which was pointless, and Moby Dick, which rambled on and on forever without much happening other than rambling on and on. I hated them both and never read anything else by that lunatic.
That wasn't a dig at ya at all, Ronmoses, so please don't take it that way :)
This reminds me of the famous anecdote of physicist and avowed atheist Paul Dirac (one of the "fathers of quantum mechanics"), who once railed so vehemently against religion that Wolfgang Pauli quipped, "There is no God and Diract is his Prophet."
Ughh some of their suggestions are awful. Max and Ruby is every overused sitcom trope rolled into one, but with rabbits. Their parents are absent and it teaches your kids nothing. HATE.
Also Dora the Explorer is on their hate list, but it's a great show because it is interactive. Dora asks your kid to pay attention, listen, and respond. This sort of analysis of what they are seeing is an advanced concept that kids need to learn early. Also unlike almost every show of it's type, Dora actually has fairly slow pacing and long pauses so the kids can actually interact. It might be annoying in spots, but it is also brilliant.
After having a couple of nearby supermarkets close down, I'm all for things that will help small businesses survive.
