"Doh!", (slaps forehead), "It's a pot hanger!" Which means something entirely different now that pot has been legalized in the State of Washington.

Lesser of Two Weevils, Large

(I am giving the previous shirt won to a friend who has also read the Aubrey/Maturin novels)

It doesn't seem like a good idea: If the gym succeeds in getting the members trimmed down 50 pounds or more, do they then exclude them? The only members who would stick around are gonna have to stay fat...thus negating the beneficial health and weight reducing effects of regular exercise. The fat, staying fat, quit attending the gym, cancel their memberships and the gym goes out of business.

Suck it up and go to a conventional gym. We are all rooting for you, some of us were fat and out of shape in our previous lives.

See you at the gym, on a regular and continuing basis. You have to sweat all that fat off, it doesn't go away without focus, determination and effort.

Concerning Lance, he took the view that if he did not get caught by the drug testing, he had passed the drug tests and was thus in compliance with the rules. It didn't enter his thinking that he was cheating: Pretty much the whole Tour de France field is bending the rules to gain an advantage.

The Rainier Cold Storage building in Seattle was thawed out, and the permafrost that had developed under it for more than 100 years melted and the building became so unstable (brick construction), that it had to be torn down.

The Meriden Firearms Company was formed when Sears, Roebuck & Co. purchased the Andrew Fyrberg & Sons firearms manufacturing plant and moved the plant and machinery to Meriden, Connecticut, 1905 in the Malleable Iron Company's plant. The company started manufacturing firearms mid 1905. They sold their guns through the Sears catalog.

I have no problem with guns, but in the wrong hands they are dangerous. Everyone should consider a training course in their safe and proper use, and the ethical and legal aspects of ownership and their use in self defense. Please keep your firearms secured.

People in Seattle know the phrase "Skid Road", not "Skid Row". The term evolved concerning the people living south of Yesler Street in old time Seattle, the corduroy skids were placed across the trail, to enable other logs to be skidded down the hill to the saw mill using horses. If you lived south of the "Skid Road", where women of ill repute and most of the bars were, you had "Hit the Skids" and lived on "Skid Road".

My dad used to eat an open faced grilled cheese sandwich with strawberry jam on it.

I thought he was nuts, until I tried it.

My wife, upon seeing me eating one of these creations, thought I was nuts...until she tried it.

You are probably thinking we are all nuts...until YOU try it!

Would using a road kill 'possum obviate the need for the plexiglass box? Would PETA claim abuse of the corpse?

Do all PETA members wear Corfam shoes? Or just flip flops? Or go barefoot?

Does PETA membership include a tin foil hat? I guess all foil is aluminum, nowadays.

Craigslist used to list thirty or forty "Best Of" every month. Recently they have reduced that number to just a couple. It was good reading, but they decided to reduce the number to practically nothing. I guess it just takes up too much storage on the ol' mainframe.

A Pox on your house, Craig.

Why do cat owners feel it is OK to allow their pet to wander around outdoors at all hours? Cats should be kept in the residence with the owner, and a litter box provided. Dogs are not generally allowed free reign, especially in an urban environment. Cats are predators and kill many millions of birds annually. Rationalizing that they also kill pests like rats and mice does not exempt the owners from the responsibility of maintaining control of their pets. If you are going to persist in letting your cat loose, please put a bell on its collar and give the songbirds a fighting chance.
