Honestly, the obsession with being always connected to everything is baffling to me. And I can't wait for the spammers to get their hooks into this, oh what fun that will be. :(

Just kill me know. (And get off my lawn!)

"People in La Porte began to believe that if she could do that, she could fake her own death"

Lol, REALLY? Someone who could murder 25+ people might POSSIBLY fake her own death? Say it isn't so!

I don't do social media, period. I don't do twitter, facebook, myspace, bebo, linkedin, etc etc etc. Texting seems to me to be a huge waste of time because I use this amazing gadget called a "telephone".

It's incredible- you can actually TALK to a person and HEAR them just like they were in the SAME ROOM!!!

(And yes, 'baro' is right- the use of "IT'S" is correct in the cartoon. Possession makes no sense at all in that phrase.)

"Were you aware that Apple loosed the Secret Service on the artist? "

Yes, and I'm glad they did. What he did was (as someone else mentioned) a blatant privacy violation. He basically installed spyware on computers in the Apple stores and used them to surreptitiously take pictures of people. In short, your privacy doesn't mean shit to him and he doesn't have any qualms about using it to further his personal ambitions. I hope he gets a year in jail for this.

> And how do they keep the birds out?

I hope you're joking. :)

There's no way to keep wildlife out of the 200 or 300 Areas. It's a very big area, mostly desert and scrub land. They come, they consume the water, and they ingest some radioactivity. It's unavoidable at this point.

> Wow...how sad.

Yeah, there's not much to like about it, that's for sure. They used to store LLRW (low-level rad waste) in open drainage ditches and containment ponds, but I don't know if they still do that now. The birds and small game would drink from the LLRW ditches and over time accumulated some of the sparkly stuff. We used to joke about "glow-in-the-dark dinners" at the local restaurants.

I saw a lot of interesting stuff out there, but it was a hard place to work. :(

I used to work in the 300 Area at Hanford back in the 80's and 90's, and catching radioactive rabbits was a common occurrence. Tye used to send the Hanford Patrol out once a week to do a "wildlife survey" (a euphemism for shooting a couple of rabbits or other small game) and then doing an analysis of the radioactivity of the carcass. They small game out there is *always* radioactive, and has been for decades.

They even post signs warning hunters not to eat any game they shoot there. (Hunters aren't event supposed to be on that land, but it's a huge area and people can and do sneak on to it from time to time.)

You know what gives it all away with this any current humanoid robot? It's the fact that when not in motion, it's perfectly still- utterly frozen. Totally, 100% motionless.

Real people don't stand or sit perfectly still. *Ever.* With just a little software tweaking to introduce some continuous, minor random motion of the head and/or body, it would be much more believable.

Impressive, but....still kinda creepy. Yeah, the man hands gave me the willies. I think a different outfit would have been better, too. The 'baby doll/go-go dancer' dress just looked...odd.

"Dreadful" is too nice a word for these hideous torture-racks. This makes waterboarding look downright relaxing. Whatever these designers and marketing idiots are smoking, send me a kilo.

If it's not just an art piece, the creator deserves to be shot repeatedly with a large caliber handgun. Either that or I'll fit a large rubber bag over his head with a coin slot- as long as he keeps inserting coins, he gets to breathe.

"Thre would be no civilization if that mindset were prevalent. And he is still very much a freeloader (public library etc)."

I agree- he's a virtual parasite. He has friends who feed him, but surprise- THEY have to earn money to buy the food he consumes. Someone else has to earn the money to fund the library. Someone has to earn the money to fund the women's shelter. If everyone went this route we'd all be cold, hungry, and sick before very long.
