Charging for the privilege of using an ultimately superfluous form of punctuation with no existing cultural significance is a great way to ensure cultural penetration of their symbol.
For whatever reason, I'm anticipating Clash of the Titans. I don't expect it to be a good movie, but then, I'd be kind of disappointed if it was. The only thing bothering me so far is Sam Worthington's bald look. Have you ever seen a Greek portrait with a bald hero? Fluffy curls make the man!
It's just replacing bad claymation with bad CG. ;p
I thought this was settled a long time ago when they found evidence of where the workers lived in large encampments, complete with all their garbage. I thought the consensus was that the pyramids were built by farmers as a way of paying taxes; you work on the pyramid for a couple of years, then you go back to your farm.
I love all the concern for innocent men. Where's the acknowledgement that it's not a woman's job to not get raped? Isn't that why we (in theory) put men in jail for rape? Because it's not the victim's fault?
As per all the hypothetical awesomely innocent dudes getting punished by vindictive exes, isn't assault assault? I mean, she could come at him with a knife. Would that be better? It would still be prosecuted as assault. Again, you have to stop people from thinking its okay to hurt other people.
Also, I don't think I could ignore having something like this inside me. I think that would be pretty hard to forget. Having to walk around with this is like admitting we live in a society where something like it might actually come in handy. What does that say about us? Maybe we should focus on stopping rapists, yeah? Maybe start by putting away more than a tiny fraction of them.
Full disclosure, this is me. Apparently I'm fat because I think a world saturated in photoshopped images of ultra thin female bodies has a negative effect on the human mind.
Lostfiniel, that's why I made a point of saying that not all models are thin. The flip side being that not all thin models are starved. Though the corpses on the runway can attest, to those still invested in the idea that all models are naturally petite, that this isn't universally true. I'm pretty much just opposed to language and attitudes that dehumanise women or trivialise their experiences, whoever those women happen to be. Fat, thin, average like myself. Women aren't the enemy here. A society that only prizes an impossible ideal and then makes such images unavoidable is the enemy. A lifetime of exposure to the constant message that you will never be good enough is not healthy. For anyone.
You don't have to be fat to feel inadequate in this world.
I wasn't aware being a professional model turned you into a fake woman.
It's fine if this magazine wants a broader range of looks and sizes, but you don't fight body images issues by treating a huge group of women as somehow inferior to another. For any reason.
It may also surprise people, but not all professional models are size zero.
Yeah, I'm not sure how this is leftist, either. Maybe it's a joke about pinko commie liberals?
Anyway, it's her lawn. I'm not sure it's an eyesore. Do we really want everything to be neat and 1950's uniformly tidy? I think it would be interesting to see.
Although I do think the black will look awfully tacky. Black never blends well with lighter colours.
Honestly, this is all a lot of nonsense. I understand the ax wielding haters about as much as I understand all the racial backlash. What about the Christian fundamentalists who killed Dr. Tiller after years of terror and attempted murder? A fundamentalist is a fundamentalist is a fundamentalist. I somehow manage not to live in fear of my mother, a church going Christian.
What are male and female colours? I like green. Is green female? And brown. I look best in brown. The colour of my eyes and all.
I'm just asking since blue used be considered a "passive" and therefore "female" colour, and red was the "male" colour. So you never know. It could just as easily be anything.
Since most people's favourite colours have little to do with their sex, it could just be easier to let them choose whatever they happen to like.

Take your glib, poorly researched, body fascism and stick it where the sun don't shine.

Also, they are flies. We kill hundreds of them every day without any compunction. They have no self awareness and they live for just a couple of days.

I don't think Pol is a moron for pointing that out. He wasn't saying there was no world competition of baseball.
