This is one of the best examples of a manufactured scandal I can think of.

They are handing out TRILLIONS and TRILLIONS of dollar to the very people who CREATED the problem. But, only those who are politically connected.

And people are freaking out about a few measly million dollar bonuses? Seriously, WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK?

Bernake and Geithner's heads should be on posts in the middle of Washington D.C. I don't care what this guy has to say, but I'm not going to get agitated about his bonus.

Well, this seems simple enough. They are criminals, and they should each be charged with 140 counts of aggravated robbery or conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. Is there any grey area here?

You know why the War on Drugs still exists? Simple. The people who profit from it are the people who make the decisions about whether to continue it.

Guarantee you he didn't live to br 102 by drinking Coca Cola every day. It's a great message, but it's sickly ironic that it is brought my a company that does more to destroy public health and steal happiness than almost any corporation in the world.

When I stopped drinking soda (DIET soda, at that) I immediately lost 20 pounds FOREVER.

Quit sugar and meat, lost another 20. Never put it back on.

Just cut out packaged foods entirely, now I weigh 175 without even exercising much. I'm 27, I've weighed this for 5 years now. When I was 18, lived on McDs and Diet Dr. Pepper, I weighed 240.

Two things:

1) This is not something you can pin on Bush. This was sponsored and babied through by the most liberal elements of the Democratic party. It is not a reflection of Bush, but on how moronic the whole political establishment is.

2) Beyond blog comments, I hope everyone has contacted their representatives asking for an exemption for small and thrift shops.

@koneko

Good point. There's a million stupid people doing a million stupid things, every day, and a million stupid blogs to document them.

The litmus test for Neatorama is - does it make a kid go "Oh! Neat!"

Two pounds? I hope they throw his criminal ass in prison. I don't care how long he's been dead, he deserves a long sentence. He was probably planning on pushing it to some school kids.

...

Seriously, when people look back in the future at how we treat drug users today, they will consider it the same way we consider, say, the Inquisition, torture techniques of the Medieval ages, locking people in unheated and unlit dungeons, etc. etc. It will be seen as a shockingly cruel, barbaric and stupid practice, and people will wonder how a people that considered themselves "civilized" could do it.

@Gauldar:

Well, see, YouTube has this box where you can type things and it will actually give you a video of what you typed in, kind of like the uber-geek video store clerk

OK, fair enough, here's a couple links.

It is simply not believable to me that all of those were made by even a large and highly skilled team of hoaxers at night. It is not just the fact that they've never been seen, but just the absolute perfection of them. They don't have any flaws whatsoever. They look like they were designed by computer algorithm. Try to draw any one of those designs freehand on a piece of paper, and see how it turns out. Now imagine you are stomping about in tall grass trying to recreate the same design 500 times bigger. Good luck.

Now, as I see it, there are two possible explanations.

One, an active and empathetic alien race is directly trying to communicate with us in the langage most common to our two species - the language of symbols. If that's the case, we would be well advised to listen.

Two, it is some sort of military technology, such as computer controlled microwaves being beamed down from space or from airplanes. That would explain why the preponderance (although certainly not all) are in the U.K. Who knows why they would be doing it, it might be to create a false belief in E.T.'s.

Either way, it is something that deserves to re-enter the national dialogue and imagination, especially considering the increasing complexity and symbolism of the more recent designs.

If you can present any other plausible explanations than those two, please go for it.

I went in with some back pain to the Korean acupuncturist day before yesterday. In between the needles, the massage with a freaking rolling pin, and these bleeding inducing suction cups, they put these heavy pads on my back. At first I thought they were mechanically massaging me. Then I realized..shit! They were just juicing the hell out my my back, making my whole back flop around like a fish! It was the most unusual sensation. Not unpleasant exactly..in fact, kind of nice. But strange. One way or the other, the whole session made my back feel 100 times better :)

OK, I know this isn't really relevant. But I just wanted to suggest that EVERYONE should look up "crop circles" on youtube and check some of the stuff that's been coming up recently out.

Not circles, but insanely elaborate and detailed images. Without any flaw of any kind. Hundreds last year alone. And still, noone has been seen making them - not once, not ever. Explain that!

You know, 2008 was the coldest year in a decade. Just sayin.

Remember, back in the 1970s, there was a global temperature dip, and everybody was freaking out about the "next ice age".

Then we had to go and invent these damned cars and smokestacks in 1975, and now look, global warming all over the place.

Good for him. classmates.com is a rotten bunch of scam artists. Without going into details, NEVER give them ANY contact information or ANYTHING, don't even give them the time of day. You will regret it.

Reminds me of the time I was skateboarding around India and had a mud caked bearing disentegrate. I was kinda despereate, where the hell are you going to find 608Z bearings in Pune? After hours of wandering around, through the automotive parts district, through the machine tools district, I found a shop...nothing but ball bearings!! It was literally 100% ring bearings. I was ecstatic. I asked if they had 608Zs...he pulls out a big box! 608Zs from Singapore, from Germany, from Japan, from China, from Thailand, from Italy, and, yes, from India..man, I was in hog heaven. They were so cheap, and great quality. Put any skate shop back home to shame. I bought enough Singapore bearings to last me to the present day five years later ;)
