I understand where the committee is coming from, and how it's worked in the past...but in the past, people were at least somewhat more likely to either a. be fully informed or b. stay the heck out of it. Now people get riled up over anything that someone tells them to get riled up about without knowing what's really going on. No matter what happens regarding Obama, people are going to be unhappy.
That said, I'm slightly against him having won even though he has visionary ideas. Willy Brandt had more clear-cut plans, not just rhetoric, and more just needed the support to get the plans moving. I think I'm going to stay out of the discussion from here on out regarding this, but that's just my take on it.

Heh heh, I clearly remember Uncle Max from calvin and hobbes. I liked Watterson's commentary on him in the 10th Anniversary book.

I can see how it would be quite useful to first-time parents, but I can't say I'm terribly interested in baby poo :P

I remember hearing about this type of research when it was just starting. It seemed really promising but I don't recall hearing anything more for a while after that. Glad to hear it amounted to something.

Forgot to mention I also got a giant microbe...bad breath. I'm a scientist so it was decent. Even if I'd not gotten anything I would have willingly given $20 to a site that I've followed since just 6 months after it started.

I got an inflatable turkey and bacon air fresheners...I'm afraid to open the bacon stuff, but my fiance was able to use the inflatable turkey in a class project the day after we got it...not something I'd ever pay for by choice, but we're an odd couple and it fits us.

Ahhh I remember seeing this a while back...Sam the Seagull is a regular and the shop owner said that it wasn't much of a bother, except that the seagull hadn't yet learned to put his trash in the rubbish bin. The workers all found it cute, and people came to the shop just to see him, so I can't imagine he's a net loss for stealing his baggie of crisps :P

so either they take a model of semi-unhealthy weight and make her look emaciated...or they take an emaciated model to begin with to avoid the label. awesome.

Whoa. I don't have a lot to say about the plant itself, but I work in an addition to the building that those two do research in. I have to go by their labs to go to the vending machines. I saw the nastiest giant cockroach outside one of them just the other day. :K

That doesn't seem so bad if there are shops and jobs within walking distance. It just seems like in america there would be a distinct difficulty getting to jobs without walking/biking for quite a while, given the lack of public transportation in many suburbs.

I don't know if that or gray seal milk would be worse...gray seal is over half fat and I think 70% solids. Blech.
