@AlexTheRobot

It was a pre-emptive effort to avoid accusations of me pushing my politics on Neatorama readers, when it wasn't. I think that it's just a good post, and worth reading. I don't view everyone who disagrees with me politically as stupid or immoral, when in fact they're often insightful.

@AlexTheRobot.

Why not just say that I'm a conservative? Because I'm not a conservative.

And why did I say it in the first place? Because a few readers are constantly looking for a reason to be outraged at Neatorama, and I didn't want to give the impression that I'm pushing my politics on readers here. I'm not. I think that Westmoreland-White wrote a good post, and that's why I linked to it.

Collecting coffee beans for this product has got to be incredibly expensive. I live in the U.S., and shipping it from Malaysia has got to be much of the price alone.

Maybe we could produce it domestically. Ship the beans up from Central America, and feed them to some other inexpensive animal. Or even unemployed humans.

Coming up with images for Neatorama posts is rather tricky. I can either:

1. Take a picture myself.

2. Use an image from the article that I link to.

3. Find a relevant image through a Creative Commons search.

I chose #3 for this post. Then I have to verify it is really under a shared license, save it, load it into my own flickr account, post it, fit the dimensions into Neatorama's style guide, find the original user, and link to him.

This image was returned when I searched for the term "neurotic", and as the photographer explained it, it kinda made sense. It's a person whose mind is being pulled in many different directions at once.

Maybe I could have kept searching for something better, but I didn't have time. Or didn't make time.

My college roomates would have disputed the notion that one required a special sink to pee into. Our ordinary bathroom sink suited them just fine.

Everyone else apparently preferred the elevator.

I'm glad that, as a society, America has largely dropped the notion that it is a social requirement to wear uncomfortable clothes. Especially ties and high heels, which serve no other purpose than to make daily life a little unpleasant.

Down up the suit! Up with denim!

When I was working at a grocery store deli, the worst behavior I ever saw was that, on a slow night, some of the guys rigged a functional trebuchet from junk lying around. But messing with people's food? Unacceptable anywhere, anytime.

@Geekazoid:

I'd say that there's an exhibitionist streak in the generation that grew up with MySpace. And somehow they can't connect that they can't control information flow and that publicizing private acts can hurt your reputation.

My mother and mother-in-law read my blog every day, and I've always acted under the assumption that they do even when they didn't. And certainly under the assumption that my boss does.

The term "right wing" has a broader meaning here in America. Right Wing News is definitely not a Nazi site. Conservative, yes. Nazi, no.
