Actually, if you were raised in the Southwest as I was, you would know that when Don Juan de Onate arrived at the Pass of the North in April of 1598, he invited the Indians along the Rio Grande river to share a feast. They dined on roasted birds, ducks, geese, fish and roots. This is really the first "Thanksgiving" but it has long been ingnored by history. I went to a high school that was on the Don Juan de Onate trail and we all had to study the bloody bast...I mean, fool. Not a nice guy, really.
My best friend is a bone person and a wild life biologist. She picks up roadkill and makes amazing jewelery out of the bones! She drills into them and puts in swarovsky crystals and makes these amazing hair sticks! And yes, she has a mummified gopher foot earring that I covet.
I've been living like this for a long time now. My partner and I go to town once or twice a week. We garage sale in weekends, and buy in bulk when we can. It gives me great pleasure when the clothes that I am wearing add up to less than five dollars for everything! (no we don't buy used panties or underwear). We get 501's carharts, polos, you name it, all in good shape with no stains or rips. And by the way, all you haters, go away.
I was 14 in 1984 and still to this day love some of those shows, like Inspector Gadget.
Funny...I don't really remember alot of the cartoons from the 70's...I always wondered why the tv room was so smokey and why my dad was laughing so hard...know I know.
