Blame the the cook, the photographer, or the editor that allowed that photo. My son loves pancakes, so I'll be making these, and I think I'll be able to make them look better (i.e., without the appearance of salivary slime!). The trick may be to mix the stuff into the batter so that they aren't exposed. These guys left them on top. Rookies.
