Gross Bodily Functions Humanity Developed On Purpose

Animals aren't the only ones who have developed gross bodily functions to help keep them safe in various ways- the human animal has evolved some slightly repulsive yet extremely effective tricks too.

For example- a new theory suggests teenagers get acne to repel potential mates until they're mature enough to care for their child.

There's also a theory that zits make younger males appear to be less of a threat to older males, so they don't get eliminated from the mating game before they've even begun.

Those theories may sound like a bit of a stretch, but the theory that contagious vomiting helped prevent mass poisonings sounds like a solid concept to me.

So does the idea of humans fainting at the sight of blood to help them survive grievous bodily injury, since our blood pressure and heart rate slow down quite a bit while we're unconscious.

Fainting also helped us survive by working as a "play dead" device during our caveman days, making it more likely for an attacker to leave the victim alone after they've passed out due to injury.
