The Laughing Squid, one of the neatest blogs in the world btw, has the story and video clip:

Maine-based clothing and outdoor equipment retailer L.L. Bean is celebrating 100 years in business with a unique 16-foot-tall vehicle, the L.L. Bean Bootmobile. The vehicle is in the shape of their first (and now iconic) product, the waterproof Maine Hunting Shoe. The Bootmobile will be traveling the United States in 2012 “as a symbol of the quality and craftsmanship that L.L. Bean is known for” for their 100 Year Anniversary celebration.

It seems to be a foldable model of an manufactured open fireplace. The size and the hinges indicate that it is a miniature model. Presumably owned by a salesman to show the internal construction of a fireplace he wants to sell...

It is a prototype of Magneto's helmet. See, he wasn't always so good at metal manipulation and in fact, forgot to measure his head before building his first helmet. In truth, he used a cardboard cut out of his head to take the measurements before building. And so it goes. He cast another, later, that fit and the rest is history.
