Lincoln Tunnel Hokey Pokey

Have you ever tried to drive straight from the New Jersey Turnnpike to the Lincoln Tunnel?  It's not possible, and this map by artist Christoph Niemann shows why.  Click here to embiggen.

Niemann's amusing illustrations appear regularly on his New York Times blog, Abstract City.

I have driven this route a couple of times. I gave up trying to keep east and west, NY and NJ straight, and just prayed I was in the correct lane to follow the route. This explains why it takes a hour to get to NY after you see the sign that says it is only a mile away.
