A Presidential Candidate Named Limberbutt McCubbins Wants Your Vote

Who says being a mute, thoroughly furry being with a smaller brain than that of other U.S. Presidential candidates is a disadvantage in the race? One Democratic Party candidate from Louisville, Kentucky, specifically, feline Limberbutt McCubbins, has legally filed and been approved for the race. Though he can't debate or give rousing speeches, his promise as a figurehead is exciting, to say the least.

A friend of his human suggested McCubbins run for the office. He said to NPR that he thought Limberbutt would be perfect for the job. McCubbins has since received support far and wide regarding his candidacy.

Learn more about Limberbutt on his Facebook page and website; there you can visit and tell him what you believe to be the pressing political issues of our time (and see if he seems to give a nip about them).

Nazi Telegram That Drove Hitler to Suicide Sat For Years in South Carolina Safe

Image: Alexander Historical Auctions

According to the Washington Post, a telegram that changed the course of World War II and prompted Adolf Hitler to commit suicide was recently sold at auction. The document sat in a safe in South Carolina for years, allegedly due to the original owner's inability to read German and failure to consult with a historian or obtain a translation that might have emphasized its historical importance. The telegram, written to Adolf Hitler by Nazi second-in-command Hermann Goering, sold at auction for $55,000.

Read the history of the document changing hands, learn how the issue of true ownership is clouded, and see the translated text of the telegram here.

Sixteen Classy Facts About Anchorman

James Spader in Pretty in Pink | Image: Paramount Pictures

Ah, James Spader. In the 1980s, he was quite the pretty picture of aloof, callous privilege. And many of us loved to hate him (and hated to love him). Over the years, the actor has become a bit wider in the middle and more than a bit lovably eccentric.

But did you know that Spader was dead serious, even "obsessed" with acquiring the gooftastic part of intellectually challenged weatherman Brick in Will Ferrell's popular comedy Anchorman? According to this Mental Floss collection of facts about the film, the part went to Steve Carrell once it was decided by the principals that Spader was “too good” of an actor to be in the movie altogether.

Don't miss the opportunity to take Brick up on his exclusive invitation to the Pants Party and follow the link above for more Anchorman facts.

Melanie the Raccoon Bikes, Scoots and Skateboards

Melanie the raccoon may not necessarily be — as her human bills her — the "smartest raccoon in the world," but she's certainly bright enough to know that if she gets on these effeminately colored little wheeled vehicles and rides from point A to B, she's going to get some of her favorite chows. And that's good enough for her! Good onya, Mel!

Porcine protagonist Otis nearly gets himself into a bind when opting to use the doggy door to gain entrance into his home. So what if, according to his human, he'd just snuck into the garage to scam for snacks? That's neither here nor there. Someone needs to show Otis some respect and install the piggy door his fluffy self so rightfully deserves! Comedian's "Customer Service" Facebook Responses to Corporate Complaints are Often Things of Beauty

Ben Palmer, a comedian from Atlanta, is livening up corporate Facebook accounts left and right with his responses to mostly inane customer complaints under the account name "Customer Service." Often issued with a breezy "hope this helps" at the end, his responses are guaranteed to give these generally clueless customers double-take moments of confusion.

Take a look at some of Palmer's answers to these gravely serious customer service snafus here, and visit his website to see more. -Via Dangerous Minds

One Hundred Years of Men's Fashion

YouTube Link

This video from the "100 Years of" series serves up 100 years of men's fashion in this footage. Not only do we see the fashion of each decade in that time span, but we see dance steps and other movements evocative of those eras. The only thing I question is the mighty mullet on the man of the 80s. Was the mullet truly the haircut of that decade? And if so, couldn't they have casually omitted it so that we didn't have to see that whole "biz in front, party in back" monstrosity yet again? Ok, so I'm an M.D. (mullet denier). The creativity of the joke is ultimately what wins.
