Unnatural Beauty

This Photoshop disaster looks as if someone noticed it was 5PM and went home, fully intending to finish the job the next day, but hit publish out of habit. See the entire screenshot from the J. Crew online catalog (which shows where her hair ended up) at PSDisasters. Link

Clear-headed

How did this happen? Maybe when they decided to list the house for sale in a hurry, the only exterior picture they had was a dud from the wedding album. Or maybe it was a Photoshop Disaster. Either way, potential buyers are going to assume the house is haunted! Link

Man Walks Through Peanut Butter Art Exhibit

Posted by Miss Cellania in Art on May 12, 2011 at 9:01 am

A museum in Rotterdam, Netherlands, has an art installation that consists of peanut butter covering 14 square meters of the floor. The smooth peanut butter “carpet” has no fence around it because museum directors believe it would detract from the art. You can guess it would be easy for a visitor to walk into it -and that’s exactly what happened.

Bemused tourists watched as the man sank into the 1100 litres of peanut butter – enough to fill more than 2000 regular-sized jars. He has been asked to pay for the damage after leaving a trail of footprints.

“It is normal that people pay if they damage the art,” spokeswoman Sharon Cohen told the Rotterdam-based newspaper.

The pricey installation – created by the artist Wim T. Schippers in 1962 and known as the Peanut Butter Platform – has suffered similar mishaps in the past.

He was the third person to step into the exhibit over the years. Link -via Arbroath

7 costly clerical errors

Posted by Queuebot in Money & Finance on March 23, 2010 at 10:43 am

People make mistakes all the time.  Some, however, are bigger than others.  Here are some cases where a simple misspelling, punctuation error, or forgetfulness cost someone millions of dollars.

Rogers Communications thought they had an ironclad five year contract with Aliant. However Aliant, being the grammar police that they are, saw it differently. They cited this sentence: The agreement “shall continue in force for a period of five years from the date it is made, and thereafter for successive five-year terms, unless and until terminated by one year prior notice in writing by either party.” Had the second comma not been there, Aliant would have had to honor the first five years of the contract before anything could be changed. But because of the comma, Aliant cancelled it early and almost tripled their prices, costing Rogers Communications $2.13 million.

Super Bowl Viewers Saw Porn Instead!

Posted by Queuebot in Everything Else on February 2, 2009 at 2:44 pm

In 2004, Janet Jackson’s "wardrobe malfunction" caused a storm of a controversy, but this year viewers in the Tuscon area  saw a whole lot more than that.

Viewers  were astonished to see a woman unzipping a man’s trousers to reveal "full male nudity" followed with what was described as "a graphic act" between a couple.

With less than three minutes left to the game, viewers were "treated" to a 30-second excerpt from Club Jenna, an adult cable TV channel featuring Jenna Jameson, one of America’s most famous porn actresses. Somehow, the feed for the Super Bowl got mixed up:

I just figured it was another commercial until I looked up,” Cora King, of Marana, told the Arizona Daily Star newspaper. “Then he did his little dance with everything hanging out.”
