Urban myths about video games have existed since the first arcade cabinets appeared in bars and pizza parlors, and as video games became a big part of our pop culture lovin' lives the myths surrounding them began to multiply.
But there's one somewhat silly myth created in the 21st century that centers around a mysterious arcade cabinet from 1981 that doesn't exist- the myth of Polybius.
The Hulu show Dimension 404 had a fun episode about it, the internet is full of people who weren't even born in the 80s speculating about its supposed origin, and yet there is no proof an arcade game called Polybius ever existed.
This hourlong documentary by Stuart "Ahoy" Brown explores the mythical arcade game that's supposedly a government agency's recruitment tool or a device of alien origin but is actually pure science fiction.
Magicians use a specific set of physical skills, knowledge of how the human mind works and carefully crafted tricks to pull off the illusions that blow the audience's mind, which is why it's unfair to call magic "lame".
Even if you don't enjoy watching people perform magic tricks you know sleight of hand, misdirection and showmanship are skills which can come in quite useful in life, especially if you're trying to entertain your friends and family.
This enchanting video by Mind Warehouse demonstrates how to do ten simple magic tricks including the Rope Trick, the Diving Bell and the old Math Trick so you can wow them with your mathematical prowess!
For many gardening isn't just a pastime they can enjoy outdoors, nor is it strictly about successfully growing plants- it's a hobby that beautifies their home and adds natural color to help keep spirits high.
But regular old gardens can start to look a bit boring, so in order to add their own sense of style gardeners use edging borders made out of different materials to achieve an unique look.
Because who wants their lovely plants stuck in the same old planter box when they can use cinder blocks, bamboo poles or seashells as the border and make their garden look like a million bucks on the cheap?
Most people who buy a Lamborghini don't intend to sell their prized vehicle unless they're upgrading or the sale is totally necessary, and if they do decide to sell it they go private party so they can get more money for it.
But YouTuber TheStradman didn't really need the money- he needed more material for his channel, so he listened to his viewers and took his orange 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo to CarMax to see if he could get a free appraisal.
They took the challenge very seriously and made Strad a surprisingly decent offer (skip to around 7:00 to see the offer), but unsurprisingly Strad decided to keep the car and leave CarMax longing for another date with that Lambo!
Hermit crabs can't be too picky about choosing a new home, because while they're looking for new digs they're at the mercy of predators.
But hermit crabs do seem to have a sense of style when it comes to choosing a new shell, and they're often attracted to shells that have shiny bling, sharp edges or shells that look tough and intimidating.
I can't imagine any animal, predator or otherwise, would want to mess with a hermit crab sporting a creepy doll head on their back, so this hermit crab shared on Reddit may have found the ultimate form of passive defense.
Everybody eats food and everybody poops after eating food, and even though pooping is an inevitable part of the process nobody, and I do mean nobody, gets hungry while looking at or thinking about poop.
So why in Crom's name did Denny's decide to use a cartoon turd as their new mascot?
That turd is actually a walking, talking sausage link named Sausage, who is part of The Grand Slams- 3D anthropomorphic food mascots who look like they were designed by a little kid.
I think the folks behind this misguided ad campaign were going for a Sausage Party vibe with The Grand Slams, but instead it just looks like Denny's is literally serving up plates of crappy food, and this is just making it worse...
Walt Disney knew the way to rake in the big bucks was to cater to kids with all of your products, and even though Disney flicks are kept kid friendly we remember scenes from them for the rest of our lives.
Now if Disney movies received a hard R rating instead of a soft G they'd be remembered for radically different reasons, and we would have gotten to see a little too much of the Beast.
In retrospect I think I like Disney movies just the way they are, because as this comic by Paul Westover shows when Disney characters earn a hard R they lose their charm and gain a bad reputation. Why Goofy, WHY?!!!
The grandmas of the world need to be protected from all the dangerous creatures out there that like to dine on little grannies, but they can also show us a thing or two about bravery and conflict resolution.
And if she's lucky enough to have a grandchild who's a hero then gran may get to go on a grand adventure, where she can impart her wisdom to the budding hero so they can be better prepared for the journey ahead.
Grandma's Hero is an adorable and impeccably drawn animated short from The Animation Workshop which shows us what the fantasy genre has been missing all along- grannies!
Dogs can be whiny, barky and growly little jerks when they want to be, and they often overreact to situations when they're anxious, but nobody acts out the overdramatic reaction like cats.
They put their whole body into freaking out, and the expression on their face when something scary is going down will never cease to crack us up.
It's honestly a good thing we have cats around to warn us when something we thought was totally normal is actually crazy scary, so we can run and hide alongside our "fierce" feline family members.
The Steam community is made up of passionate gamers who are always ready to try out a new game and tell the developers what they think of their creation, giving it a thumbs up or down and an honest review.
These reviews are then read by developers and the games are improved based upon feedback, which is often very thorough and detailed since Steam reviewers are generally quite knowledgeable about video games.
There are also plenty of funny and totally unhelpful reviews posted to Steam too, and even though they're of no help to the developers these reviews help us all stay sane by adding some much needed levity to our lives.
Sometimes these funny reviews actually manage to describe a game perfectly, capturing the feel of playing games like Rocket League, The Witness, Slime Rancher and ARK so we know what we're getting into before we buy the game.
Have you ever wondered why a scoop of ice cream from one brand or scoopery lasts twice as long as another?
It's because of the amount of air found in each brand of ice cream, and brands sold at grocery stores are allowed to have up to 50 percent air in there, which means you're only getting half of what you pay for.
To illustrate how much air gets pumped in to each tub of ice cream The Action Lab put a tub of Kroger ice cream in a vacuum chamber so we can watch it rise to the occasion.
It doesn't take long for dogs to go from tame pet to wild beast and back again because they have the spirit of a vagabond inside them.
But when they meet a human on the streets they actually like they're happy to tag along with them for a while, which won't be much of a change for the dog but may send the human on a new adventure they never expected!
Have you ever heard the term "fatberg" and wondered what it is? Well, it's not an iceberg made out of whale blubber, it's actually something far more disgusting - a huge clump of condoms, wet wipes, fat and other gross stuff people flush down the toilet that doesn't dissolve.
A fatberg nicknamed the Whitechapel Whale, which measures 820 feet long and weighs 130 metric tons, is clogging the sewers of east London and forcing sewer workers to wage war against the foul beast:
“This fatberg is up there with the biggest we’ve ever seen. It’s a total monster and taking a lot of manpower and machinery to remove as it’s set hard,” said Matt Rimmer, Thames Water’s head of waste networks, who adds that it’s “like trying to break up concrete.”
An eight-person crew is using high-powered jet hoses to break up the mass before sucking it out with tankers. That material will then be hauled to a recycling site. During an eight-to-five workday, workers will remove an average of 20 to 30 metric tons per shift.
Just like his American counterparts, who have begged citizens not to flush disposable wipes, Rimmer says it’s frustrating as these situations are “totally avoidable and caused by fat, oil, and grease being washed down sinks and wipes flushed down the loo.” Instead of sending this stuff into the city’s sewers, folks should dispose of them in the garbage.
“When it comes to preventing fatbergs, everyone has a role to play,” Rimmer says. “Yes, a lot of the fat comes from food outlets, but the wipes and sanitary items are far more likely to be from domestic properties. The sewers are not an abyss for household rubbish and our message to everyone is clear – please ‘Bin it – don’t block it’.”
Photographers often use reflectors, shades and lighting rigs to ensure their subject is lit just right, and while this equipment isn't too expensive it isn't cheap either.
Plus there's the lugging around factor, which can be a pain when you're just out on the town trying to do a casual shoot, so photographer Philippe Echaroux wondered if there was a better way while eating a Big Mac.
He then took the Big Mac box and combined it with a flashlight and a straw to create a surprisingly effective portrait lighting rig.
Philippe is famous for his celebrity portraits so he doesn't need to cheap out when it comes to camera gear, but his Big Mac rig was made to show people they don't need a filet mignon lighting kit when a hamburger box and a flashlight will do.
Some of the Insta-famous "stars" of Instagram take themselves way too seriously yet have nothing new or special to offer, and since new selfie stars pops up daily it can be hard to find Instagrammers worth following.
But enough about those totally lame selfie shooters who clutter up Instagram, let's talk about a young lady you should be following if you like fashion- 6-year-old Coco Hamamatsu, aka coco_pinkprincess, who represents Harajuku in both style and attitude.

Coco and her family were forced to move to Harajuku after the 2011 Fukushima earthquake, where her parents opened up a boutique and introduced Coco to a love of fashion at an early age.

Her individual sense of style, straight up perfect poses and innocent-yet-fiercely fabulous attitude make Coco more than just a kid posing for pics and prove her Insta-fame is well deserved.
